I have to eat........help a girl out

I have to go for my glucose test tomorrow and i want to pass, I know I dont have GD so it will make me mad if I fail becasue of something I ate. Heres the issue...I hear its best to not eat before..but im 40 minutes away and the place doesnt open till 9 and I cant even make it there till about 10am....i cannot go that long without food...

is there something I can eat that wont mess the test up?

i ate like an hour b4 mine, my doc said it wasnt a fasting test so not to wrry about it. ive noticed a lot of ladies on bg say hteir docs say to fast.. weird how its different with ppl.

Not that I know of! I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to eat for a good reason. But I wonder what people do if theirs isn't until later!

I had toast and water and i passed it. Good luck!! I didnt have to fast. I ate maybe 20 min-half hour before i went in. Again, Good luck, let us know how you made out  

If this is your 1st glucose test then I recall them telling me to eat normally b4 I went in...
I wouldn't have a sugary snack and a soda but..eating something shouldn't hurt

but I fasted for 12 hours anyway.

Personally I think it's best to have an empty stomach when you drink that god awful glucose drink, just in case it makes you sick.

if it is your first test - do not worry eat like you normally do so they can get an accurate reading!!!!!

then ifyou fail they give you a strict diet before u come back for your 3 hour.

its not that big a deal. i failed the first one - i didnt even know i was getting one done until the day i got there and they did it. but they gave me the paper of what i could eat for 3 days prior and then said to fast from midnight of the night before until i had my 3hour done. after 2 hours i was passing with flying colors so i didnt even need to wait the 3rd hour and they let me go early.

i had a diff dr with my first he made me fast. With this one they said I could eat.... I fasted anyway and failed my 1 hr, but passed my 3 hr (which they made me fast for) Don't eat is my opinion.... but if you must, nothing sugary or carbs.

only if you fail the first test and have to retest!

My doctor's office even called me the night before to remind me not to eat! I wonder why it's different other places.

I was told not to eat either but I think my appointment may have been a little earlier. If you have to eat, I would suggest dry toast (like one piece) as already suggested or maybe a few saltine crackers...just something to tide you over. Good luck!

it really wasnt that bad.. just tasted like overly syruppy gatorade to me.
i had a fruit punch the first time and a green one the second time.

i had taco bell.... two chapulas, a crunchy taco, and a diet pepsi right before mine...they never said not to eat...

I didn't think it was that bad either...I had the orange one. It tasted like flat, orange soda to me.

I didnt have to fast for mine but I talked to the lady who administers the test and she told me to not eat before I did it. She said that she noticed that pregos who ate and took the test failed the first time but passed the 3 hour one. I wasnt taking the chance!! Oh and it tastes awful...I got REALLY sick and had to lay down at the place for the hour. The tech didnt even want me to drive. It tastes like over sugared orange soda.....I will never drink orange soda again!!!!
