Hey! I'm taking the generic form of Zoloft..called Setraline. I also breastfeed. How can I know if it's affecting my breastmilk? My daughter has vomited 2ce today and it was more than I would have thrown up. Where can I find it?!

does your doctor know that you're breastfeeding. as far as i knew zoloft wasn't compatible with breastfeeding. Try safefetus.com or call your physician.

Everything you eat or drink affects your breastmilk.... in example: broccoli causes gas.... so how could it not? Does the dr who gave it to you know you are breastfeeding? They would know best.

I would absolutley not take that while breastfeeding. I'm only a nurse but that's my advice.

I saw a specialist on breastfeeding and medications and she said that zoloft is proven to be perfectly safe in breastmilk. If she is throwing up that much you should call her pedi! Hugs!

According to the Zoloft® (sertraline hydrochloride) prescribing information, it is not known whether or not Zoloft or any of its byproducts pass through breast milk, and if so, how much. Therefore, when it comes to Zoloft and breastfeeding, the drug's manufacturer recommends that women stop nursing if they are taking Zoloft.

recent studies have shown that low levels of Zoloft do seem to pass through breast milk. Several studies have shown that in women taking Zoloft and breastfeeding, the levels of Zoloft in their child's blood is either very low or undetectable. The most recent study was done by Berle and colleagues, and published in the September 2004 edition of Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. They concluded that "This study adds further evidence to previous published data indicating that breastfeeding should not be generally discouraged in women using [selective] serotonin reuptake inhibitors

Discuss it with your doctor, how bad is your depression without meds? you need to weigh the pros and cons of each.
