Adalynn's first CAR accident *long & language*

Yes, you read that correctly. Adalynn was in the car with me today and we got hit. It is officially her first accident.  

So, I'm in the parking lot of Fred Meyers in Issaquah and I'm waiting to go down the "main road" in front of the store to be able to go down a different aisle to park.

I'm sitting there as this older couple gets into their shiny Mercedes, which was parked in the 3rd spot down on my side of the aisle. They are creeping back and I see the lady (passenger) with her head turned and out the window.

I'm thinking that they're going to stop. I'm stuck where I'm at because the traffic in the "main road"... they keep creeping, and I finally realize they're not going to stop. So even though they were behind me, I still pressed my horn.

BAM! They hit us. I was so upset and in shock that I yelled (windows are down mind you) "Are you fucking kidding me?!".  

The lady and the guy get out of their car, I get out of mine. I look inside to see Adalynn still asleep and tell them I want their insurance information. The guy proceeds to the back of my car. The lady says, "Did he hit you?".

WTF?! Are you fucking seriously asking that question? Did you not feel the jerk in your body from when the cars hit each other? Seriously?! (thoughts to myself of course)  

My response, "Yes, he hit me. Right there." (as I point to the back side of my car). The guy says, "That's a minor scratch.".

"I don't care, I want your insurance information." (as I'm writing down his license plate and the make and model of his car. They are appalled at my choice of language.... They are getting "witnesses" that I cursed.   Okay lets not forget that they're the reason I cursed. Their stupidity and lack of sight.

As I continue to ask for his insurance information, he says something about calling the cops. I told him if he wanted to he could, I just wanted his insurance information and I would gladly give them mine.

He then tells me, "I don't want to turn this into the insurance, I'll just take care of it. I'll give you $100.00, how does that sound?" *he was serious and was reaching into his wallet*

WHAT?   There is no way a $100.00 is going to cover the cost of getting that fixed. No way.

He then tells me to follow him to this auto body shop. Fine, I'll do that. They do an estimate and it is.... $583.70 and only $48.00 of that is tax. He is SHOCKED when the guy tells him the cost. He can't believe it would cost so much.

I knew it wouldn't be covered. I might be young but I'm not stupid. Thank you very much.  

So, he puts it on his credit card and now I have to take my car in on Tuesday evening and get it back some time *maybe* Thursday but for sure by Friday. Which is not so bad but seriously I don't want to be without my car for 3 days.

I would have been okay with him giving me the money and then I would have just left the car how it was... It was more the principal than anything. I mean come on... getting on me because I used the f* word. Whatever. They are the ones who didn't want to give their information until they knew I was calling the cops.  

Adalynn and myself are fine though. She as I think I said before, slept right through it. She doesn't even know it happened. THANK GOD!

I'm sorry that happened to you today, that had to be so scary with the baby in the car! The most important thing is that you both are safe and not hurt, cars can be replaced and fixed, mommies and babies cant, im so glad your safe, but im sorry you had to deal with such a jerk

Glad you both are ok and you were VERY smart for recording their plate numbers and car details.

My friend got into a car accident and the woman took off and called the cops on HER saying she took off. When the cops showed up where my friends car was trashed they understood the woman had lied and she was taken to jail for it ha ha.

I hate people. I got rear ended in the drive thru one time at mcdonalds. Honestly. EVERYONE IS STOPPED IN THE DRIVE THRU!!! How do you hit someone. I got all the guys info and he was like, please don't turn it in. I was like, Are you effin kidding me. You hit me in the DRIVE THRU. My kids are in the car you asshole.   I hate people sometimes

I am glad you both are okay! He probably didn't want to call insurance because old drivers have lots of accidents and he is probably about to be cancelled lol. I am glad he is paying for it. Don't ever take money without an estimate. 

I'm happy you had him pay to have it fixed. I know a lot of people who would just taken the $100. I'm glad you and baby are okay.

That really sucks! People are so ignorant! at least he payed for it and wasn't some uninsured broke driver!!! Glad you are both okay!

if I was you, I'd go after him for paying for a rental car for 3 days ...  

OMG what is wrong with people...I got into a fight with a girl at the grocery store just last week for driving like an asshole in the parking lot...she cut across a row of parking spaces and then CUT ME OFF in my aisle...missing me by inches. She parked, and *conveniently* there was a parking space right next to her. I jumped out and said "Do you always drive like an asshole? I Have a baby in the car!!!" she told me to calm down and I told her whoever taught her to drive should be shot. Stupid ass.

I am so glad you and your little girl are all right, and major props for what you did...I would have done the saaame things....stupid old rich coots!

Pheww I am glad that you are both fine!! What an idiot! Old people shouldn't be allowed out past 10 am or allowed to drive period!

The guy at the shop said we would have to discuss a rental car between the two of us...however, I'm not going after him for that because it would be like pulling teeth.

Besides, I don't go any where any ways and I don't have an appointments next week.


Thank you all for your concern. I'm glad that Adalynn is okay and it was nothing major. If it was there would have been a whole hell of a lot more said than ONE F* word.  

Oh and to those that said I was smart, thanks.... I learned it all from my momma.  

wow what idiots! I'm glad you and bebe are safe and sound. I can't believe he only wanted to offer $100 dollars, even the smallest of scratches are more than that to fix on a car!

yeah well, they had "witnesses" for me just saying the one line with the f* word in it.... I thought that was funny, because their witnesses would do more damage to them than me... last time I checked I had the right of freedom of speech. Not to mention that hitting someone's car with yours isn't a good thing to do and it is against the law not to give your insurance info to them.  

.toots. Yes, I know it costs more than 100... The guy didn't think it would though. You should have seen his face when the body shop gave him the total. He was seriously and honestly in disbelief. HELLO!!! Labor costs an arm and a leg, duh.
