breastfeeding..

im stuck in the middle with this one. As much as I know breastfeeding is good for the baby, and I do want to try it (sense with Cara, my boobs didnt work) on the other hand, I want bobby to experience the bonding when it comes to feeding the baby, and if i pump..when is the right age introduce the bottle? I dont want nipple confusion, but ahhh im just so confused. My mother in-law just keeps pushing and pushing this whole breastfeeding thing, and blah!!

any suggestions ladies?

I did one pumped bottle at 4 weeks (she has no nipple confusion), but some say that you shouldn't start until 6 weeks so your supply can be properly regulated by your little one. I can tell you that there are a dozen different ways that daddy can feel close to the baby that don't involve feeding, so if you wait awhile, don't worry about it. Just holding them is great bonding  !

I exclusively breastfed for3 months and there was no nipple confusion when i decided to supplement. I think if you make it gradual it shouldn't be a problem. If you can breastfeed then you should do it.

at about three wks we started pumping and using a bottle occasionally. My son has no problem going between the two. Im not going to lie, the first couple weeks were difficult, a little painful, but its a breeze now! and so worth it!!

My nipples were cracked and bleeding for about 2 weeks!!! But once I got past that it was the best experience ever!!!

Not necessarily every baby will have nippleconfusion. I started pumping every once in awhile when my son was about 4 weeks old. He'll take a bottle, breast or binky. lol. I would definitely try to breastfeed if you can. Just do what works for you and your baby. Good luck!

I gave Adrien a bottle at 3 weeks, and he took to it just fine. He didn't have any nipple confusion or problems latching after that--then again, he tries to eat anything that comes near his mouth!!! LOL I think it's different for every baby---some babies are breastfeeding pros from birth, and others have a more difficult time.

My real advice though is to go with what you feel most comfortable doing, not what you feel pressured into doing! Your baby will be healthy and thrive whether they are getting their nourishment from you or formula. Don't let anybody make you feel bad about decisions you make!!

I heard it was really painful as well..buti figured if i could give birth, i could handle anything..but if they are sensitive now..ahhhh lol
