evening ladies..

i was just wondering ( b/cus im bored lol ) how many of you smoked or do smoke etc and your veiws on it...

Well I havent been pregnant, but I did use to smoke. I quit the day I got married. Just decided that would be my goal for the new chapter of my life. My husband still smokes, but he promises he will stop at 30 (in 6 months).

If I had become pregnant I most certainly would have quit smoking though.

I have never smoked but my husband does and i thinks its disgusting but that is my opinion people are free to do as they please....

I smoked before I got pregnant, stopped, and started back up two days after I had her. I don't breastfeed or do it in the house or anywhere around her. I also wash my hands and brush my teeth after a cigarette. I'm paranoid because I've heard that cigarette smoke is linked to SIDS.

how did you stop? did you just decide and that was it or did youuse patches etc?

I smoked up until I found out I was pregnant, I can't imagine smoking whilebeing pregnant! (personal opinion). My mom smoked through all of her pregnancies, and we all were just fine...but that doesn't change my mind...

I have never smoked... my bf did when we first started dating but I got him to quit that real fast   lol But as far as pregnancy and smoking goes.. it disgusts me to see a pregnant woman smoking. Its no longer only about yourself, you are responsible for another child now.

i was a pack a day smoker... but my parents hate it so i kept from smoking at their house when i went there on christmas eve and christmas day.. on the 26th i started to light one back up and was like man this kinda tastes funny.. but it usually does when i run out and have to go without for a little while... so i keep smoking them for the next day or so, just not as much.. and im like man this isnt getting any better and now its making me feel nauseaous to just light one up. what the heck?... wait a minute... what happened to my period.. i should have had it about christmas time... and i havent seen a sign of it... better go buy some tests.. by new years i had a BFP and quit smoking right then. it was easy since it tasted so bad. i only found myself craving them a month or so later when friends were lighting up in front of me and i was going thru a lot of stress. but it was only mental cravings.. they still smelled horrible to me, but my brain was freaking out pretty bad for one a couple nights i cried over it. now its not so bad.. im pretty much over it.. but i remember being to the point of thinking man i cant wait to have the baby so i can light up again, ill just have to skip breastfeeding so i can smoke!.. but i feel like i can completely give it up now that im 8 months in... i may only smoke socially after im done breastfeeding but thats about it. besides.. they are expensive as hell!

It is linked to SIDS, I smoked for years before I got pregnant, cut down at first, and then found the power to quit after I felt him move for the first time.. it was kinda like, ehhhh, yeah you gotta living thing in there developing lungs, just quit... and I haven't touched a cig since. I'll probably start after I have him but nowhere near the house, and I'll wash my hands and brush my teeth after, and I don't want anyone to hold hhim that smokes, makes sense right? haha!

i guess im gonna get slated here.. but hey thats what D and D is all about right  ...

im still smoking, ive cut down from about 30 a day to roughly 5 or 6..

i did try my best to stop but i still need those few to get me through the day ...i did the same when i was carrying y daughterand she is just fine

but i never smoke in the house or around my daughter ( i never have done ) i wash my hands after a cig and either brush my teeth or chew gum.

I didn't smoke before I got pregnant so of course I didn't smoke my whole pregnancy.My cousin did though and it bothered me but that's her child whom I do feel bad for and now that she's born she has this rubbing sound with her breathing I figured it was nothing though but the nurse that came to visit was worried about it too.I guess the doctors weren't worried though and from what I can see it's only getting worse in the middle of the night she'll sound like shes struggling to get air.I'm not a doctor so I don't know if thesmoking did it or whats wrong but I wouldn't chance itwith my child!

I cut down and fully quit at month five.

I'll warn you that smoking is always a touchy subject on here ...sometimes folks play nice ..and sometimes people just get all judgmental...
It varies...but, the cool thing is that there is a quit smoking forum to help you w/ those cravings and get support to stay quit

I cut down, but to be honest I never completely quit while I was pregnant. I didn't smoke frequently or even daily but I had one from time to time because of stress--it's a stupid excuse and I would regret it every time, I still do thinking about it. It makes me sick to think I was selfish enough to do something so stupid and put my child at risk.I was fortunate enough that my daughter was not premature and her health was not compromised in any other way that is significant or noticeable to us now [yet, at least], butmy fiance and I bothcompletely quit after she was born. It's the best feeling in the world to not be remotelydependent on it anymore, I don't even think about it.

I felt so guilty that I threw up and never touched another one during my entire pregnancy.
