posted 2nd Jul
I was wondering what everyones experiences are with cervidil? Did it work for you, and did you have any problems with it?

Worked for me.. but slowly.. I had no progress up until that point, they put the cervidil in around 8pm and the next day started the pitocin at 5am.. then I delivered at 7pm.

I had to sign a waiver. It worked for me in effacing not so much dialating. The symptoms are nausea, diarrhea, rise in body temperature and something else but all I got was a rise in body temperature. That sucked because I was sweating my butt off and I hate sweating while wearing nothing but a gown.

I did not work for me but I was also only 33 weeks. The doctor had to massage my cervix to help my thin out. I wish that on nobody/ At the endI ended up having ac section.

No i don't want to get an epi. My original birth plan was to go all natural, but it looks like i am going to be getting induced soon.

Try it first, it can't hurt plus if it works for you then you'll be closer to delivery and won't need to the epi when you get induced with the pitocin.

When I was given Cervidil it was after I went overdue by 8 days and still wasn't even soft... I had it in for about 12 hours and it did immediately causecontractions rather strong every 4-5 minutes for 45 seconds... unfortunately not enough for it to dilate me... didn't have any problems with it though, just didnt work

I got Cervadil put in at 1am on Monday, they took it out the next day at 11am and I was 2 cm dilated and super thin. I was 1 cm dilated when I got to the hospital. The thing that sucked was not being able to get out of bed the whole time it is in and having to use a bed pan. I got the pitocn and my water broke right after they removed the cervadil and then things went slow but steady. I had my baby that night at 10:26pm. I had cramping and discomfort almost immediatley after they inserted the cervadil too.........

they didn't let you out of bed?? Wow, with mine I had to wait like 20 minutes but then I could get up to pee and stuff...

NOOOOOOO and I was miserable. The bed was so uncomfortable not to mention how embarrassing it is to pee in a bed pan while you are 9 months pregnant and can barely hold yourself up to do it.....

They said because if the Cervadil moves then they have to re-insert it. They didn't want me to dislodge it.......I don't think all hospitals are like this but mine was and it sucked!
