Quick ? ...Mommies who had epidurals

posted 2nd Jul
I am 5 weeks PP and lately I have noticed that my back hurts where my epidural was. I heard from a friend that hers hurt her after. Is this common? Do any of you guys notice this too? It is just annoying and it doesn't help that my back is kinda hurting too from carrying around a new baby all the time.......any info would be appreciated! Thanks

My best friend works as a nurse in the labor/delivery wing of the hospital i plan on delivering at. She told me that it seems more common than not, women who get epis have HUGE bruises the next couple days and end up really tender on the injection site for like a week or so after.

Yes it can still hurt from time to time. My mom's back still gives her problems once in a while from her epi's and her youngest is nearly 19 years old.

I think you should be fine as long as you are not getting really bad headaches. I think that's what they told me. I've had 2 and after my second pregnancy I had some pretty bad lower back pain for like 2 days once a month. Been fine for the past couple. I called my doc though and insisted it was from the epi she said take IB profin and it is last more than 2 days she will get me an appointment.

I never put 2 n 2 together but my back has hurt alot and feels really tight around that area. I just thought it was from holding the baby all the time

That is the side effect of the epidural. They say that it could keep hurting for years. I was so much in pain I didn't give a crap I told them to shoot me up. Now I regret it.

I've always had back problems, ever since the fourth grade. That said, I haven't had ANY back pain since my epi 11 days ago. I'm hoping that having opted for the epi doesn't come back to haunt me later on and make my back problems even worse than before... but I still think it was worth it. My contractions felt HORRIBLE before I got the epi. The nurse told me that since I was dialating so quickly, each contraction was stronger than it would have been if the labor took longer.

ok so I am not completely alone, LOL! I would not change the fact that I got it though, I don't know if I could have made it through the labor with out it.....it's not that big of a deal I guess, I mean I am not in extreme pain, I just noticed it and thought I would ask! Thanks

I didn't/don't have that problem, but had to have a blood patch before leaving the hospital due to spinal headaches from it.
