You are selfish. You are not thinking about how hard it is for us. Homebound is not a fucking vaction. It is hard, my sister took ALGERBRA 3 and AP classes and the freakin homebound teacher couldnt teach it to her becasue she was a fuckin dumbass so my sister had a hard time learning anything on homebound. DO you think bein in labor is a damn vaction. I think not. And besides mothers need at least a little time to get the baby's room together and to prepare for a baby. Preparing for a baby is stressful enough, I sleep all the time and i couldnt be getting prepared for a baby, be stressed out, be sleepy all the time and then go to school. Its against the law for the shcool not let mothers on maternity leave.

My friends that got pregnant in HS just went back when they felt like they where ready, kind of like being sick. I wouldn't abuse it though. You don't want to fail for missing too many days.

I don't know what its like to be in high school, with a kid. However I do know what its like to be in high school and be pregnant. And I also do agree that maternity leave in high school shouldn't be an issue but as others have stated, it is.

Even though I was doing fine with my B's and C's I actually did better after I found out I was pregnant. I think a little bit of it was me realizing I needed to get my shit together if I was going to be responsible for another human being. Besides the 5 weeks that I didn't feel too sharp, being in school wasn't hard. I ended upwalking the stage (at 36 weeks)in the top15 of my class with a 4.85 GPAso I really don't like it when I hear people say they "can't do it".

I have definately been blessed with an easy pregnancy, and I know that not everyone has. I think that time allowed for maternity leave in school and work should be decided by the doctor and the mother based on the mother and baby's health, and if there is someone to take care of the child (because there ARE cases where there is no one but the mother to take care of the child wether it be family or money issues). Even though you can prevent some health problems, there are others that you can't predict, prevent, or resolve, and that should be held against NOBODY, not just pregnant women.

My sister got pregnant her freshman year. She graduated on time. She graduaded at the top of her classs with highest honors, maintained and A average and had AP classes. She did that all while raising a daughter. She graduated this year and the whole family was very proud of her. She also got accepted into a good college (UK) and it stats in the fall

See it can be done.... thats one hell of a mama =]

well pardon thhem for trying to not be the statistic horrible mother. theyre parents now. they tear like older women, they have to heal like older women, and they have to raise children like older women. boo hoo that theyre young. they shouldnt be punished at that point. theyre not the ones getting punished by that, the child is. they deserve maternity leave just like anyone else.

went to college and worked full time and went back to work 2 weeks after getting out of the hospital

Yes, but it is YOUR earned sick time...hard to earn it takes a few years to build up enough time to take maternity leave....Once my earned sick time is up I have to return to work or I don't get paid, my medical benefits etc.

I wasn't ready to go back to school right after I had my daughter. I gotthat 8 weeks for having a c-section. Then I went back. It's not like I din't do my work. I picked it up and dropped it off.
