Low heartbeat/decreased fetal movement.

My mom's best friend has a pregnant daughter that is a week or two ahead of me, so she's about 32 weeks, due at the end of August. They did a NST on her today and noted the baby's heartbeat was really low, so they ordered an ultrasound. They noticed decreased fetal movement, but they just rescheduled her to have another NST. The doctors didn't tell her or her mother whats going on, so they are both pretty upset about it.

Anyone have any advice or knowledge that I can share with them? I really don't want her to freak out and stress out even more than she is, especially since her baby shower is this weekend. She should be relaxing instead.

They checked the heart beat on the dopplar and it was slow, so they did a NST, and then ultrasound.

Non-stress test, they hook monitors to your belly and watch for the baby's heartbeat constantly. It monitors contractions, too.

I know... that's why I'm hoping someone here knows something I can share with her. I know she starts school in August and they are inducing her around 36-37 weeks if everything is ok, so I'm worried for her.

i think as long as its in the 120- 160 range it should be fine.

I think I've actually had one done earlier than 32 weeks, but I'm high risk tho. I've had many NST's done, and I know baby doesn't always cooperate on those.That's awful tho that her MD wouldn't fully explain what was going on and make her worry unless it was truly warranted.
