Is it possible to just have contractions in the back? Because holy shit I don't know if I have just been over duing the whole cleaning up and nesting thing but my goodness my back locks up and I feel alot of pressure laying down kinda makes it worse due to the fact I can't move from side to side with out letting out a cry of pain...I wasn't able to get much sleep at all last night due to the pain in my lower back. Walking and sitting up hurt, and still does.I was stripped for the second time yesterday and I am just nervous you know? I am breathing through the aches but I need some guidence thanks ladies!!

I had back labor with my son, but in delivery. He came out face up - and its common to haveback labor when they come out like that.

Since your due date is so close I would try timing them. It is possible to get labor pains just in your back. If they are 5-7 minutes apart I would call the doctor and head into L&D to get checked.

I only felt my contractions in my back, so it's definitely possible! Time them, it may be time!

Thanks mama... see I go to a military doc so for me I have no one to call. I just show up in L&D. The sucky part is my MIL is flying in from NYC and she gets here at 3pm it's almost 2, it's 1:48pm. Goodness this sucks! I know I am having contractions because belly gets tight but no pain anywhere other then my back!

I did with my daughter. Never had the front contractions. I didn't even think I was in labor and I did have my membranes stripped my friend insisted I was and made me go to L and D and I was in labor.

I had back labor with my son. Thank goodness it was only 5 1/2 hours of labor, 2 with an epi because I think I would have died. But you should time your pain.

How exactly do you time back labor? do you count how many times in 1 hr your belly gets tight?

If you can feel your belly tightening (sp?), I would time that. That is the contraction even if you are not having the pain there. Good luck!!!

Use this ^^
The beginning of your contraction is when your back starts cramping and your tummy gets tight.

For me I couldn't time it, it was like non stop pain that's why I didn't think I was in labor. It is different for everyone.

For me, the pain came and went but was killing me when it was here. So, I timed when it started, how long it lasted and when the next one came!

You can definitly feel the contractions when your in labor, regardless if they are in the front or the back you should time them anyway.

Thats why I am asking because it's constant at this point! I am getting in the shoer to let the hot water hit my back that usually helps even though moving around hurts.. Wish hubby was home!!
