PCOS and Skin Tags *TMI*

K, yeah they're gross and horrible and I hate them, anyone that has them or has had them knows that. I finally got fed up and researched all the ways to remove them at home because my doctor said since they're cosmetic that he won't do it and my insurance wouldn't cover it and I'm not paying $200 to get it removed. So I tied it off with floss and it seems to be working, but I tied it on Sunday and it doesn't seem like it's about to fall off. I also read that if you put clear nail polish on it 3 times a day that it'll fall off in 3 days, so I started that this morning.

Anyway, so the question is has anyone tried any of these at home removals and what did you try and did it work? If it did work, how long did it take?

My mom used to cut my dad's off with fingernail clippers when he was sleeping on the couch. From what I've seen it's rather painful.

I had one on my leg and my pcp just cut it off one day.

yeah I've read about doing that but I'm too scared to do it, lol. I told the hubs that I was going to do it by the end of the week if this didn't work, but I don't think I'll have the guts to do it....I didn't think it would hurt cause I thought it was just a peice of skin, but I just read online that they're Benign Tumors so that makes sense that they would hurt.

yup i have both (pcos and skin tags) lucky mee LOL (sarcasm).My doc can burn them off, but ive heard its really painful. Mine are on my back so i just havent bothered! not tried any home methods so i couldnt adivse on that sorry

that's ok. I have a few on my leg and one on my back and I ignore them, but I have a semi large one on my neck and I've had it for years and I'm just tired of it. People don't know what it is and they point it out, or say I have something on my neck and I'm just tired of having to explain it.

i'm so sorry to say this, but i honestly DON'T know what you're talking about. i'd be happy to try to help you if i did. from what it sound like, you all are talking about a "mole", is that right?

it's similar to a mole, but it's just a peice of skin that sticks out. It doesn't do anything, it's just there. It's usually the color of your skin, maybe a little darker. It's common with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). it's a benign tumor that's just kinda there, I'm not sure what causes them. Most are pretty small but some can stick out over an inch.

oh wow. i have never heard of that. i have seen moles that stick out like that, but of course they are always brown. i'm so sorry to hear that you have them though, are they painful?

Yeh i find mine annoying because i have problems with my spine i need alot of chiropractic work and it bugs having them there. I have alot too, never counted but over 5, some little some not so small   kinda gross but ive got worse things to worry about lol!

I had one under my arm. It finally grew so big that I accidentally cut it with a razor when I was shaving once. It turned black and fell off about 2 weeks later. Not an ideal method but it worked
