Am I being selfish??

I have been planning for 2 years to take my daughter to Disney World for the first time forher 5th birthday. I purposly waited this long so that she would be old enough to go on all the rides, and do everything and enjoy it all. My hubby and I have let everyone in our families know that this was the plan. I told all of the grandparents that they were welcome to be there, and that I would work the actual date out with them if they wanted to go, but asked them to PLEASE not take her before then because I want it to be special.

Sooooo.... my MIL is watching the both of my girls for a week later this month so my husband and I can go work at a convention. She is doing us a huge favor with this!! Last week she tells me that she is going to take the girls to Disney while she has them. I tried to think of a nice way to broach the subject with her without sounding like an ungrateful whiner. So I asked her to please take them to one of the other parks beside Magic Kingdom, because that's where I was planning on taking Sam for her birthday. She seemed ok with it, but then my SIL called and said that it was very selfish of me to do that because she is going with them with her daughter and it isn't fair to make her daughter go to one of the other parks. (She has taken her daughter to Disney many times already)

Am I being selfish on this?? I am not sure how to handle it. My MIL wasn't doing this to be malicious, she just plain forgot about my plans, and she means well, but my SIL (who lives with her) has a way of putting things in her head, and I don't want to come out of this a selfish ingrate.

Advise????

In my opinion, you already told people about your plans and if they don't like it then they should deal because it's something you've been planning to do with your daughter.

I think your doing the right thing your SIL needs to get her noise out of things

If you've expressed your wishes in the past, then no; I don't think you're being selfish at all. If it was me and my kid, I'd want it to be special and be with at the first visit.

I think her mil prob forgot you know how older people for get some things but i think the SIL like most SIL like to cause probles and i would tell her to go beat sand up her butt

You are not being selfish at all. You said you wanted to take her, and if she knew the plan then that's horrible. This kind of reminds me of the movie Stepmom and the Pearl Jam tickets. lol. Just let her know, look, I don't want you taking the girls. It was my plan, I wanted to take them, you can come along when we go.
