I know during my pregnancy I was very nervous about giving birth just like every other first time mother. I just want to share my positive birth story here with you. Before I had my baby, all I was told about giving birth sounded HORRIBLE, everything from going into labor to the after affects. I was terrified bc I cannot tolerate pain, i thought i was gonna die getting a small tattoo, i didnt know how i was gonna survive child birth.
I'll try to keep it nice and short.
My son was suppose to be born on July 3rd.
On June 10 at 830 am, I found some bright red blood with my mucus plug. I was hesitant to call my doc bc i heard that having sex could make you mucus plug come out and we had done the dirty the night before--(i was joking with my fiance that we should do it to induce my labor.) the babys daddy insisted on calling(he was excited), i called, i was ordered to go to the hospital and found out i was 3 and half cm dialated. the nurse told me i was going to have a baby that night or the next day. I had no pain whatsoever and the nurses were shocked. I asked to be discharged and so they let me go home. I honestly didnt believe that i was going to have a baby that early.
Anyways, i went home, it was liek a normal day for me and I slept thru the night perfectly fine. the next day (june 11) At about 630 I woke up to some "mildly" bad cramps. I was still in denial till about 730 when I had to stop what i was doing during my contractions. My plan was to stay home as LONG as possible bc i had no idea how long i was gonna be in labor and i hate staying in the hospital. Well, that plan didnt work bc my water broke. It wasnt a big gush like Ive read, it was just kinda like i peed myself a little lol..
So i went to the hospital at 8 am, the nurses had saved my room from the day before bc they knew i was coming back. My fiance and midwife were there with me. I wasnt planning on getting an epidural or planning on doing it natural, i was just gonna go with the flow. My contractions werent bad, it was my back that was killing me. I realized I was having back labor. Yes it hurt but i managed to make it thru every contraction with the support of my babydaddy and midwife. All I really remmebe was laughing and talking inbetween contractions and just zoning out during them. I focused on breathing and the babydaddy rubbed my back during my contractions. my back labor was getting intense so I hopped in the tub and just laid there for a good hour. I came out of the tub and before I knew it, I had the urge to push but unfortunetly i was only 9 cm. so along with contractions in the front and back..i now had the urge to push. my nurse suggested giving me "sterile water injections" ease my back pain and so i got them(it only lasted 15 mintues for me)boy, did that hurt! lol..anyways, so i mentioned that my water had broke at home, it broke again when i went to the hospital and at 9.5 cm my bag had sealed back up and i asked the doc to break it cuz my baby was ready to come out lol. after my water was broken for the 3rd time, i pushed for 10 minutes. my son was born on Wednesday 6-11 @ 4:36 pm weighing in at 5 lbs and 10 oz. he came out face first with his right hand neatly tucked under his chin. i ended up with a second degree tear.
I had an all natural birth. It wasnt as bad as i had expected it to be and i am so dissappointed that I let myself become so stressed out during my pregnancy bc i let other moms scare me. this was probably the only time i remember ever being so PROUD of myself. It has boosted up my selt-esteem and i now feel like i have the strength I thought i would never have. HOnestly, all the labor pain goes away after your baby is born, the only pain i truely remember are the sterile water injections lol....if i can do it you can do it. and if you ask me what the worst part of labor was, it was probably having hte urge to push and not being able too!
MOMMIES TO BE, please child birth isnt nearly as bad as some people make it out to be whether you go natural or not.
and please, dont stress yourself about how your body will look after baby. once your baby is out, it wont matter and youll be surprised of how well your body heals!
i understand that there are some people who have complications during labor and birth but for hte most part, our bodies are made to give birth and if you just accept and let it be, youll be fine. Im not telling people to do it without drugs or anything, my options were always open. I guess what im trying to say is that you dont need to work yourself up and just go with the flow!
