Florida medicaid

posted 30th Jun '08
people with florida medicaid, Does medicaid pay for an epidural? and if not, how much do they cost? I thought it was covered, and my sister told me its not and that you have to pay $1,500.00. Is this true?

I'm not on medicaid, but I'm sure it's covered. Even if it's not, my anesthesiologist charged my insurance company around $800 (I paid $105), so it shouldn't be $1500.

ok. my sister had a baby 2 months ago and she has medicaid and a insurance and she told me she received a bill for 1500.00. but that her insurance is going to pay the majority of it. i got worried because i didn't prepare to pay it. i thought everything was covered.

Florida medicaid will pay for everything except a circumsion. They will not cover that because it is not medically neccessary.

Does everyone usually have to re-apply or do you think they just made a mistake with her?

Medicaid covers everything with the pregnancy and the baby's first year, minus the circumsition. My brother's gf had one with her first, and they paid for it.

my friend just had her baby about 3 weeks ago and she got a bill for 11,000$ and she called the medicaid office and they told her to re-apply for herself and then they would cover everything...anything that happens with the baby (ex. time in the niccu, medication, time spent in the hospital etc...) is all covered, but anything that you have done like an epidural is covered, but you have to go through the process after you get the bill of calling them and re-applying. they will cover it, it's just a pain in the ass like everything else with medicaid.
