Children and Sex... OMG Im so not ready

posted 30th Jun
I told my brother (10yrs old) if he wants to know anything or need anything (including sex wise) to ask me and i will help him out with no questons asked. Today he asked me to show him how to put a condom on, I showed him how using a flashlight. After I did and he asked some questions about STDs. I was thinking the whole time OMG he is only 10. I didnt ask any questions besides if he understood or if he had some more questions.
Would you have showed him how to use a condom? Would you have broken your "no questions asked" policy?

10 is pretty young, I hope he isnt having sex yet and is just curious. I would have done the same thing, its better that he knows how to then to skip it all together. I dont think I would have been able to NOT ask any questions. I think I would have at least asked if he was having sex.

He got the condom from school. He gave me that information.

OMGosh!! I would be a bit shocked and uncomfortable talking to him about all that... But I would do it!!
He is young, but not alot of kids ask those kind of questions or have someone to talk to, you did the right thing!!

Keep it age appropriate, he is so young..! ask him what he already knows about and then just be as honest as you can w/o any details..! ask if he has any questions then answer him only on a need to know bases!! Good Luck!

I would have first ASKED HIM why he was wanting to know this information and what he already knew...

Then from there I would go on to tell him that he is a bit young to be "interested" in sex and that I would hope if he was thinking about doing it he would reconsider.

Then depending on how that took place I might have or might not have told him the information he wanted.

One question I have for you... why if he's only 10 would you have told him that if he ever had any questions regarding sex that you would be there for him??

**i've not read anything other than your post**

Wow... I'm hoping it was from one of his friends and not school board personel.
Even then it would be best for him to not even be thinking about it.
