5 yr old bathroom issues

I've seen several topics on bedwetting, but I'm having the opposite problem with my son. He has always been real good at going to the bathroom and never had any problems on having BM. My problem is he is having a hard time trying to wipe himself. Now my husband (who is home with him more then I am) has tried several times to teach him how to wipe himself to no avail. I was wondering if anyone else is having and/or had this problem and what they did to remedy it, I'm at my wits end since he starts kindegarden this fall.

Have you tried showing him what to do? Like your husband does it to himself?

2 of my close friends bot have 5 yr olds with the same issues except they both poo on themselves for different reasons.

One of them is too lazy to go the the bathroom the other is scared of going to the bathroom alone.

So one of them offers her son a toy or treat at the end of the week if he comes home with completely clean underwear everyday.

We got my daughter to use wet wipes and she will now wipe herself. My son on the other hand refuses to wipe himself. They are both four and they start school this fall too. My son will hold it in till we get home and dosen't like to go in public at all. My hubby is the same way.

I've tried and so has my husband, but it doesn't seem to want to click at all. He has gotten so frustrated at times that if I'm not there to help him out or to supervise,he will literally use his hands and wipe it on the walls. Now this used to not be a major issue, but it seems to becoming more and more obvious since we became pregnant with our daughter.

Those bathroom wet wipes work great for this problem. My son had the same prob and when I got him those he did just fine....

im having the same issue with my 4 1/2 yr old daughter. she will be going to kindergarten this fall an when she goes somewhere an comes home her panties are always messed up. so bad sometimes i have to throw them out. her father has been showing how to wipe since she started school last yr an shes still not gettin it.

My son is 4 and has been potty  trained since he was 2 1/2. He used to always try and wipe but we would help too. Then a few months ago he refused to wipe. He started asking about diapers again and wants us to help with all sorts of things he used to do on his own. The doc said it is most likely a reaction to the baby who is due any second. We got him some "Kandoo's" which he actually loves. They smell good, are soft and are flush-able. We have been trying to make a big deal about how special he is and how not everyone gets to be a big brother. We have even had him make choices for the baby like, what outfit to come home in and which toys to buy. We took him to "Build a Bear" and let him make one for the baby as well as for himself. He seems to be getting back into his old routines now. He also told my husband that he really likes helping out with the baby and feels included. Just some ideas.  

my five yr old was doing that and i realized it was the way he folded the toilet paper . If he got some on his hands he wiped it on the walls. First we made him clean the walls then we would make him shower. He calls one of us in now if he has trouble. but he is starting to do it more often and more succesfully on his own.
