Where do I go? UGH.

posted 30th Jun
Ok, I've had this head cold for over a week that turned into a chest infection. I have a severe throbbing ear infection that I lost all hearing in my right ear. And it's oozy. I have constant diarrhea and nausea and a fever. I'm dizzy and I can barely talk. Tylenol isn't helping, I've tried teas, and Robittusin. Even holistic antibiotics. I gave in and took claritin, though it doesn't help me any.I just get worse and worse. And now I'm having mild contractions, probaby from the fact that I can't seem to get enough water, though I drink it all day, I'm not really going because of my bathroom issues.. I've tried to tough it out and keep taking stuff, but this is rediculous!

I called my OB and they wont help me because I have an appt Wednesday and they said "Oh well". They know I don't have a family doctor. My insurance gave me a family doctor, which I've never been to, and they can't see me for two weeks. And I would have to pay up front out of pocket anyway.I called l&d and ask-a-nurse and both said my OB should get me in today. I've called my OB's office 3 times today, and I'm high-risk and they won't see me. They said my ear needs to be checked by a regular doctor, but I dont have one.

Where should I go? ER? I can't go into work this sick, but I need a note to stay out. Should I just continue to get sick and wait til Wednesday?

What can I do for my ear?

I would say go to the hospital. Or an urgent care center if you have one around. Good luck, I hope you feel better.

I agree, urgent care will charge less than the ER. Usually $100 flat if you don't have insurance.

I second that. You really need to go in because that baby is depending on you to keep it alive. You need to take the best care of your self that you can. I hope everything works out ok and you feel better soon.

That is so much better than ER. Because my insurance doesnt cover ER trips.

Thats why I'm frustrated no one will see me and I'm high-risk. I really hate my doctors, but they are better than some around here, so I'm stuck with them as stupid as they are.

I hate doctors. My keep running tests on me, but I never get the results. And they barely acknowledge my questions. I think they forget we aren't doctors and we don't know everything pregnancy related.

Yup. I hate that. They did that to me for a while but I finnaly got fed up with it and told them flat out tell me what the hell is going on or I'm going to talk to who their boss or what ever. They seemed to coperate after that.

Mine get pissy when I go to the ER. LOL. That gets the moving. L&D treats me better and tells me whats going on better than my doctors.

What about a walk-in clinic? Here the walk-in clinics charge the same as a dr appt. I live in city of population est 100K (just a tad under) and we have more than 5 walk-ins. Just in town and that is nto the ones outside in the outer skirts. I have had to go to them when I could not see my reg doctor and my normal co-pay was all I had to pay. Cash pay is cheaper (generally) than a full office visit price as they love to paid in cash of front. If you have some of these- calla round and tell them you are cash pay and ask them the cash pay price. But your insurance may cover it- even if you have state insurance.

((hugs)) Feel better soon Lory! Wish I could help! <3

You poor dear!! I hope things get better for you. And that everything works out, and its ridiculus that your ob wont see you since you're high risk.

And about the dr thing, I don't have one either... I mean theres one i could go to if needed but IDk if my insurance would cover it. My medical card gave me a dr as well, but hey guess what, hes retitred! how smart are they?

Wow, seriously? I went to my dr.'s office that medicaid gave me and it doesn't exist... Unless he works for Hot Dog Hut.

I ended up going to the ER because the walk in was closed. So I got medicines finally. And I saw my doctor today and they didn't seem to care.
