Elevated HR

Hi ladies.

Just wondering if any of you have gone through what my sister has and what your outcome was.

My sister is 34 weeks along and being closely monitored for GD. She has only gained 20 lbs so far this pregnancy and is doing well other than also having a UTI right now.

She called me concerned yesterday saying her heart rate was running 130 which is high. Normal is 60-100. Her blood pressure is good, no protein in her urine so it cant be pre-eclampsia. She is well hydrated.

Any other ideas?? I told her to keep an eye on it and rest as much as possible and if it stays that way one more day she needs to call her doctor.

Anyone else go through something like this?

i had GD and it didn't cause my heart to race. However I did develop a murmer while pregnant and that, at times, caused me to have slight bouts of tachychardia. Has she developed a murmer at all? It might be the same thing.

Have they done an EKG? Or maybe she is dehydrated? I'm not really sure... But I hope everything goes well.

I'm not sure. She has an apt with her OB on Tuesday. I dont think she should wait that long. Especially if she is in SVT, not sure if she is or not. But her poor heart will tucker out.

Nope no EKG yet b/c she didnt go to the doctor. And she is well hydrated. her urine is clear and she is getting at least 64oz if not more of water a day not to include the fluids from her food.

It shouldn't be SVT if it was only 130. Current ACLS says SVT is 180+.

Hubby and I are both paramedics. I'm a nursing student. I'm a worry wart too!

Air medical dispatcher here. Medic in the army as well. Nursing student too...
What semester are you? I just finished OB/Peds.

I'm doing a distance learning/self study paramedic to RN program. I should be completely finished in about a year.

My hubby is having a fit about me being in school and wanting to TTC again. However, my nursing school is all online. I just have to travel to a testing center to take my Theory tests and then my clinical practice exam at the end of school which is 4 days long.

Hundereds of women do it everyday. I can too!

I am too...small world.

My sister has me baffled. I'm not sure what else could be going on. She always calls me with questions. Usually I can help her out. But this one..I dunno. O well.

yes i had it with two previous and this pregnancy , my heart rate stays in the 120 to 140 range if moving around . . i feel my pulse pounding thru my fingertips .. it makes me so anxious make sure your hydrated avoid caffeinated bevs, excessstresscall your dr have a physical exam to check your cbc,thyroid and bp too.. i was told the hormones cause the hr to increase and bp to decreasebut he checkedother causes also like the test i mentioned
