Working Out vs. Eating Healthy.

posted 29th Jun
In YOUR opinion...or if you know for a fact..which is more crucial when trying to lose weight? Working out..but still eating crappy? Or not working out..but dieting? Obviously both works best..but I just thought I'd ask.

I think it's a lot like oreos and milk. Both are good alone but they are best when together! You just shouldn't have one without the other.

It depends on if you are only trying to lose weight, or trying t tone, or trying to be healthy, etc. Only losing weight, I would say dieting, toning up/being healthy, I would say exercising.

workingout is only about 20% and the diet is the other 80%.

Good call!

Diet is probably 80% of losing bodyfat.. but your results will be far better with regular exercise, especially weight training.

if you eat bad and excersise...your mainly just going to burn part of the calories that you have eaten for that day...

if you eat healty and excersie...then you will burn the calories that need to be burned.

if you want to do one or the other then eat healhty to lose weight work out to get toned. IMO you need to do both and can cheat a little maybe once a week to get in some junk food cravings.

I agree if you want to lose weight you have to be serious and exercise and eat right. They both go hand in hand.

I'd say its a combination, but if I had to pick between the two... its definitely eating healthy. I mean what good would a work out be if you left the gym and went to McDonalds and devoured 1,000 calories. They would pretty much cancel each other out.

Well if you want to lose weight you should do both, not just one or the other.

losing weight is a numbers game...you need to burn more calories than youre taking in in order to lose weight... so if you are working out and still eating way too many calories youre not doing any good and wont lose weight. IMO what you do or dont put into your body has more affect than working out and eating shitty. Ultimately if you want to feel healthy, look healthy and lose weight you need to do both. If you want to have any chance of keeping the weight off though I wouldnt diet; dieting usually means following strict rules and the majority of dieters just regain their weight, if you want to lose weight and keep it off long term you need to make a lifestyle change. The way you eat needs to be an everyday thing, not a short term diet.

I agree with you totally. Diet implies that it's temporary and restricting. I don't diet I just watch how much of everything I eat. That's a life change not a temporary change. I still have my chocolate and cake if I want it, but now I know just how much I should have as opposed to how much I want.

That's how I lost 130 pounds. All I did was change the portions.

That's freakin awesome! Way to go. I've lost 40 lbs and 2 pant sizesso far and feel great. I need to lose more before I will like what I see in the mirror but I'm on my way. I don't have a number in mind for weight or size butI will stop trying to loose weight when I like what I see.
