Smoking around him???

posted 29th Jun
So I left my son at my sis in laws house the other night, she's a heavy smoker but she has 3 young kids of her own.. When I picked him back up he smelled like cigarette smoke!! So I went off on her for smoking around him and she swears she didn't.. since then he's had a bad cough ( trust me I know that bitch was lying ) I feel so guilty about it, what should I do about his cough??

**edited to clarify the question**

I know that.. I'm referring to his cough.. Like an air purifier or something like that..

Not let her watch him again?
I never let my daughter go to her grandparents because they thought if they cracked a window it would be OK.. She came home one day after only an hour, they had smoked in another room.. nope I am not going to risk my baby's health.

I'm sorry

I have to live with my dad and he won't quit smoking in the house...
Everytime he lights one up, I smell it, and it makes me SO angry...

I really understand... there's nothin you can do right now
Make sure you've aspirated his nose pretty good (that's what smoke does to Lily) and don't bring him there again.

I know.. I just don't want it to be an early sign of asthma or something because me and all my brothers have it.

I know.. my parents smoke too and I hate it.. The thing is they love my son.. They used to come inside after smoking and go try to hold him and cuddle him.. No.. they now have to use hand sanitizer and listerine if they smoke.. I felt soo bad about it.. I thought she knew better because she has kids too.. I was wrong.

Is his cough really deep?
Or just kind of a fake sounding one?

My husbands aunt is a very heavy smoker. When I go over there I smell like smoke when I leave and she doesn't even smoke around us.

Sometimes just being in the same house as a heavy smoker you smell like it so maybe she didn't smoke around your son.

As far as his cough. I would use a nasal aspirator and maybe contact the doctor to see if there is a cough medicine he can take? I'm not sure how old he is.

It sounds like it makes him short of breath, like it takes a lot out of him..

Well I know for like the little coughing that is constant
That usually IS a sign of asthma
I had it too but I developed it at a really early age
Im also allergic to cig smoke
And thats the type of cough that I had
You may want to get him an air purifier and keep it next to his bed
Either way it cant hurt, just help
So maybe try that
And talk to your doctor
I dno if they can do asthma tests for babies
But you can always try

Yea, some people don't care.
They need to wear a smoking jacket or something, too... the babies can inhale bad stuff off of our clothes that have been around the smoke. Just so you know :/
Yesterday my dad lit a cigarette with Lily in the van and I said, "UMMMM what makes it OK to smoke in the car with her in here?"
He said "QUIT BITCHIN! The air is going through the van at like 45 mph."
I said, "UMM NO IT'S NOT first of all because the only window that's cracked is YOURS, and second it doesn't matter if the windows are opened, she still breathes in bad chemicals!"
His response, "Why can't I get any peace any where I go?"
Me, "You CAN. Simply go AWAY from my child to smoke a damn cigarette! That's the ONLY thing I ask of you."

He thinks he is entitled to smoke when he wants, where he wants, because his leg is paralyzed.

OK, so Lily, since Grampa's leg is hurting, DON'T BREATHE for a while!!
