Membrane Stripping?

So how many mommies out there have had their membranes stripped? Why did it happen and did it help at all?

I'm due on Friday and the last time I saw my Dr I hadn't started dialating. I haven't had any more than maybe 5 real contractions, still haven't lost my mucous plug and absolutely no signs of him dropping until this morning and it's not all that much anyways. I go in tomorrow to see my Dr for the last time and was thinking about seeing if she could or would do it to start something happening, but I wanted to know if it would be worth it.

I had mine done and with 2 of them i was in labor that evening. Good luck.

i had mine stripped about 2 weeks ago, i wasn't dilated at all before that but at my last appointment i was at a 1. so i don't know if it was from the membrane stripping or just my body doing it naturally. i'm going to ask her to do it again tomorrow, i'm due friday also! i've also had very few contractions and have yet to lose my mucous plug. good luck, lots of labor dust to you!!

I was thinking about asking for it last week, but I didn't want to be sent into labor this week. lol. I'm still waiting for my husband to get back from deployment, but he'll be here by wednesday so I'm hoping it will just help me to make a little jump in the labor direction. It's just sooo frustrating to be soo close to my due date and have NOTHING happen!!! I'll be induced hopefully on the 5th anyways, but I want to see if anything will help me do it naturally before then.

wow they won't induce me unless i'm 10 days overdue...yeah you can at least ask, the worst they can say is no, but you being soooo close to your due date they will probably do it anyway. my doctor didn't tell me until she was doing it, i didn't ask her to or anything, she just went ahead and did it. is your hubby coming home for good or does he have to go back??

what do they do when they strip your membranes??

im due one day after you!! last week when i went to the drs. i was almost at a 2 and my dr talked about it but said it hurts really bad...  but i go again tomorrow and i think im goin to ask if they will just go ahead and do it for me!

it does not hurt that bad at all so don't let them scare you! it's definitely not comfortable but it really doesn't hurt!

I had my stripped when I was 38 weeks. The day I got them stripped, I was really crampy and what not then I lost my mucous plug later that night. My water broke the next day and I had my son the day after that! haha, so it worked for me.

My dr said the only reason she'll induce me is because she's on call this weekend anyways and with my husband being here "the stars have aligned" (her exact words). Plus, I'm staying in Texas right now with my in-laws because the was deployed and he only gets 21 days of leave so we have a short time schedule. lol.

I think I'm gonna ask her to do it anyways...if it sends me into labor great...if not then I'll go through pain just to deal with the rest on saturday! lol.

He's back after 2 months of ship quals, but he'll be leaving again in sept-nov for the same thing then middle of january for 6 months...fun fun.

aaww see i knew i should have asked her to go ahead and do it any ways... tomorrow im not leaving until she does something for me, im going to say " seriously im not NOT leaving until you do something" LOL they are probably going to think im crazy! oh well i had high blood pressure when i went last week and im so swoallen (sp) its crazy

I'm not sure I want it to work that fast, but any dialation or labor sign at this point would be very much appreciated!! lol

stick their entire hand up you and move it around in the opening to your cervix .. i'm pretty sure anyway. thats what it felt like.
