re: Flood of 08' CRAZY pics or Cedar Rapids, IA MUST SEE!

My uncle's chiropractic clinic was on first ave, across from that huge church and the water was 7 feet up in his building or something crazy high like that. Luckily he got all his tables outbefore the water came but there was all the records and computers and whatnot that they just moved higher instead of out. Everything is a lose, its really sad  

Crazy, now we've lived through 2 major floods.

I am in CR, too!!

This flood was horrible, but I am impressed how everyone has come together.

I took a lot of pics off the interstate that I will have to add to photobucket and share.

Wow, thats crazy! I hope ur uncle is doing well and the restoration is going good....is he rebuilding or relocating?

Me too! Its crazy how much stuff u forget about until u drive by or see pictures, its so sad ; (

I lived there for 5 years. I drove by many of those places on my way to work every day. I cant even imagine what it is like in person. Its hard to imagine water that high. So sad!

We drove through CR a few weeks ago. It was an insane mess. Houses were tore down to the beams. Houseboats on land in peoples backyards. Garages knocked over. It was just jaw dropping. The new owners of Curt's dad's old house did this to the house...

Craziness huh?? Looks like a war zone in that area....theres all types of houses with writing on them. In fact that house looks a little fimiliar. Im sorry to hear about his loss.

Its his old house so he didnt lose it, a couple who bought their first home did.   I think it is on L street but I am not sure of the streets lol. It is 2 blcks from the river.

Well, thats good to here that it wasnt his house, but sad to here about the first time buyers....thats so sad. Yup, and thats the exact area I was thinking...wow.
