Why do people judge teen parents???
posted 29th Jun
It seems like most people have something negative to say about teens having babies. Yes it is a major issue, but instead of scolding teens why not just say "hey you had your little oops, now lets make sure that the child is taken care of".
I am posting this as a teen mother to be. I am 15 years old and I am 7 weeks pregnant. I am due in mid- February. The father is 17 years old and yes he is in the picture.Himand his family are doing whatever they can to help. Yes I am a high school drop-out but not by choice but because I moved from another country and when I came to high school in the U.S they messed up my credits and told me that I unless I want to start high school over from the 9th grade (I should be going to the 11th) maybe I should find another way to get my education. So I decided to do my GED which I am almost finished with and I'll take my SAT's next spring. I know that I will pass. Then I'll be in college next fall 16 years old with a new baby but with a GPA of 3.8 why would I let a child stop me from fulfilling my dreams of becoming a doctor??? So yes maybe I am to young to be having sex but at least I'm a good student and I'd rather read that to party and do drugs. If you still have a problem with teen parents then so be it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I just wanted you to know that we are not all what you think of us to be. Thanks

People have a problem because it's so early in life, and normally it takes your parents to help raise your child. I'm a teen mom, just graduated, and going to college in spring to be a RN. I graduated with honors, but people still look down on me. I used to take it personal too but instead of feeing so negative about it just prove everyone wrong. One of my really good friends got preggo at 15 & had her baby at 16. She's better than some older mommys. She's graduating next year with high honors, and the majority of the time she was in H/S she was either pregnant or a mother. So instead of feeling like that, just ignore everyone and prove them wrong. Being a great mom has no age, but it has its responsibilities, and some teen girls don't understand that until the baby is here.

Good for you. Prove them wrong then. You can't change the way people think by complaining about it. Show them.

Its not just teens that people jump on and if what you are saying is true then you arent one of them that people on here will jump. Go to school make something out of your life. That will help you and your child in the long run, some teens dont do that they think that a baby is a toy and that its all dress up and games and the child gets hurt thatis what upsets people about teens have in kids at your age. I have talked to a lot of teen moms and well some of them ask for help but they dont take the help that is offered. If you have a question then ask but some people migh not give you the answer you want that is just a part of life.

why is your first post on BG scolding everyone? Why not just introduce yourself and tell your story instead of telling everyone how they should think? I'm not bashing teen mothers or anything, but this is not really a good way to make friends from the start. Oh well, whatever. Congrats on your pregnancy.

I think there are two reasons.
#1 the majority of teen moms you hear about in the real worldare not the responsible bunch you find on gaga. That's not to say they aren't out there. Obviously they are. However you see alot more teens wasting their lives and ruining their childrens lives than you see other wise.
#2 The sterotype. Because there are more teens who are not learning a lesson and taking responsibility for the life they created, it's created a sterotype.
the only thing you can do about it is prove everyone wrong. Step up to the plate and be the best damn parent you can.

I myself have no problem with teen parents (since I had my daughter when I was 19...got pregnant at 1 . Congrats on your pregnancy and on finishing school. To me age does not define how good of a parent you will be, your maturity level does. Welcome to BG.

First of all I didn't take offense to your post and I saw it as more of a vent then a scolding. I thought you were talking about people in general not people on this site. Since you are new if you do get nasty replies don't fight with them it's not worth your time their probably doing it on purpose! Oh and everones hormonal for the most part so that's a another factor myself included! Finally to answer your question it's becasue your young and in todays society even if you marry young you still get crap for having kids. I was 19 when I got married 20 when I got pregnant and I got crap for it. Heck I'm 25 and I get people telling me that I'm to young to have a kids now. So no matter what people are going to stick their noses in it!!!

Quoting babyboo.:“ Another one?”
If she's new how would she know? Why does everyone get so annoyed with post topics that have been posted a million times? Don't answer it if you are tired of it!
