Foul mouthed kids/toddlers

posted 28th Jun
I find nothing cute about a child who cusses. I don't laugh when a child does it, nor do I sit there and find it adorable.

This one girl that I know has two kids, one is 4 and the other is 2. Now she barely ever has the 4 year old as he is always at his grandma's house, but the 2 year old has one foul mouth. My SO was talking to her one day and she out of nowhere called him a "fucktard" everyone who heard it just sat back in shock as the mother laughed and just thought it was just too adorable.

It is almost like she teaches this little girl to say these things, and encourages her to do it more by laughing at her when she cusses.

Does anyone else have an issue with toddlers/kids cussing?

No, no more than I do with anyone cussing.

Why is it unacceptable for children to do it, but it's acceptable for adults to do it?

It should either be acceptable for everyone to do it, or no one.

Personally, if people want to cuss, I don't care. Overuse of profanity usually just dulls the impact of the words, so you shoot yourself in the foot if you overuse it. But, I don't have a problem with the words themselves, or with people choosing to use them.

wow. I definitely have an issue with children and toddlers cussing. it is not funny or cute. It's disrespectful to other people and strangers. It's a bad image on the parent too.

Fucktard? You know she didn't learn that from the TV because they don't use that word on there. That had to come from the mom, or someone the mom knows.

I don't think it is right or okay to let a child cuss, let alone teach them to do so. It might be somewhat funny how they pronounce it or something if they don't do it correctly, but that doesn't mean you should laugh at them, especially when they know that laughing at something means it was funny.

I will not teach my children to cuss nor will I LET them cuss. I can't believe that the mother just laughs and doesn't try to discipline her daughter. That is outrageous.

Did anyone say anything to her about it??

It's not the fact that a child is swearing that bothers me, it's when the childrens parents don't seem to be bothered by it. The great thing about children is how innocent and pure they are and to me, swearing takes away from that innocence.

I didn't even know what 'slut' ment until I was 10, and as soon as I found out I called my (at the time) step-dad one and he slapped me...so I called him a bitch and did a runner.

I think that it is bad for a little child to be cussing. I have already made it clear, just as my sister did when she was pregnant, that people are not going to be cussing around the kids. It is not that cute. I will admit that I did think that it was kind of funny when my little cousin sounded like he was saying asshole when he tried to say apple but I was about 14 then. I mainly thought that it was funny because I was not allowed to cuss at 14 but I never minded being asked not to. It is just tacky.

UGH! That is the most tackiest thing... I stop hanging around those types. I have to think of my kids. Yes they will be expossed to it when they get to school. But if that child said that to my kid and the mother just sat there and laughed. I would have said something to her. That tell's you something about her character. I curse every now and then. Only when I get overly mad.
But really the words at time seem like know one has anything else to say these days.

I have said something to her several times. I even told my SO that if it keeps up then I am going to have to request that she and her kids not come back to the house. Those kids (when she has both of them) are nothing but a bad influence on my son. I only tolerate this girl because my SO works with her SO, if they weren't co-workers and friends I would have requested that woman take a hike a long time ago.

When her older son is here at my house playing he smart mouths, hits, kicks, bites etc. He smacked my son once right in the face and the mom didn't say a word about it. I am not one for disiplining other peoples children, but the day that her son got pissed at my son and pushed him down cement steps causing my son to scratch up his entire face is when I stepped in. My son of course was screaming in pain (he is only 2) and I went to grab him and the mother simply said "oh he is just being dramatic he is fine" but never said anything to her son for doing what he did. After making sure my son was ok I went and pulled that kid (not in an abusive way) onto my porch made him sit in time-out until his dad got back.

I do agree with you. I might cuss on here, but I do try to keep it to a minimum. I also try to do the same IRL and I NEVER cuss around my son. In fact I get very upset if someone cusses in front of him as he loves to repeat people.

I get annoyed by adults who cuss too much, but can't stand kids who cuss.

Oh the mother of this little girl has one foul mouth on her, herself.

She will sit there and in front of her kids tell her SO that she is going to "punch him in his fucking mouth" In fact the "F" word seems to be her favorite word to use.

I just find it very disrespectful to use that kind of language in front of kids, especially in front of someone elses kids. I can't tell someone how to parent their child, but I can keep their negative influences away from mine.

I'm not begrudging anyone their opinions at all, I just really don't understand why it's so unacceptable for children to swear. I mean, what is the magic age at which swearing becomes acceptable? They're just words.

If it's acceptable for adults to do it, then it should be just as acceptable for children to do it.

I understand not thinking swearing is acceptable for anyone, but I really don't get why it's off limits for children but most people don't bat an eyelash if an adult does it. Again, they're just words.

It's not cute. I have always curse. ( I don't know why) I've never ever tought my kids to curse. But of course they hear it so they're going to pick it up. The first time Xavier cursed I have to say I did laughed. Not because i thought it was funny, But because i was so emberessed I didn't know what to do or say. I was cought off guard. But anyways I have gotten better. The best thing is if i wouldn't curse at all. But sometimes I slip.

Yep!   I didn't even know what "bitch" ment, I'd just heard someone say it at school. He was very grown up about getting revenge though, he carved 'I hate Lindsey' into the kitchen table
