My sick baby

posted 28th Jun
He had an allergic reaction to something. I think it was this carpet spray I have been using. He has a rash alllll over him and it is starting to itch him. I've been to the ER and doc got some meds to help predisolone and benadryl. But he is still itchy so I bought calamine lotion yesterday which helps, but too afraid to put it on his hands (which look horrible and his face) anyone know of anything good I could use to help the itch?

aww the poor little guy, did you try cool water on a rag and just dab his face? Thats how my mom treated an allergic reaction i had to a pesticide my dad had used when i was little, it helped take the itch away for me, the only bad thing is you have to keep doing it and doing it, but it helped me

When we were in the ER I got a pop and he wanted it sooo bad so I bought him a bottle of water (he has always refused a sippy) and he kept sticking his fingers in it and they got way worse shrotly after because before that his fingers weren't bad at all. So im even afraid to give him a bath even though the doc said it would be okay. although I did sit him in the bath tub and used a cup and got warm water from the sink and got him all wet.

I do have some and thought about it, but not sure how it will react with the other meds. I will call the on call doc and see if I can.

hmm thats strange, but maybe that was becuase the water spread the spray more? has he had a bath since the rash appeared? it might help clear it up for him if theres left over residue on him, a lot of people say oatmeal in the bath is really soothing for rashes, so maybe if you run him a bath you could do that too, it might help him feel better

Id say maybea cup for a regular size tub and maybe a half or quarter cup for an infant tub, you dont want too much, but you want enough to where its gonna help soothe the skin, maybe just eyeball it, when it looks like enough or something? have you looked at the drugstore to see what kind of bath stuff they have to soothe the skin? maybe the pharmasist can reccomend something for him, i feel so sorry for the poor little thing. aayla is allergic to a lot of stuff too, its scary!

Okay I will try the oatmeal when he wakes up I just got him back to sleep. He is starting to get a sore throat now. So after the oatmeal bath do I rinse him off in water? I haven't looked at the drug stores for anythig really his doc said not to use soap or lotion or rub him at all until it clears up. I just really hope it is from the fabric spray I have been using so I don't have this happen again. I hope he isn't alergic to too much sorry for aayla. But my son is on soy milk because regular milk makes him sick but he eats dairy products. Thanks for all your help!
