Thoughts on induction... those who've had it done?

Alright, so I have the option to be induced because apparently I'm a good candidate according to the doc.

But this woman at Denny's freaked me out telling me she had tremors and shit from it...

but hell, if I can get induced on my due date, I'm all for it!

Can anyone tell me what it was like to be induced? What it felt like? Did you feel weird or goofy on the pitocin?

How soon did you get pain meds?

And I heard about this drug that supposedly makes you feel drunk in labor or something, anyone know the name of it or ever heard of it? I guess my sisters' friends up north swear by it but she can't remember the name of it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, except for those that say to go "natural" and that its wrong to be induced or get pain meds. I don't really care for preaching.

Now the first thing I want to share is when I got induced on 12/31, I was sent home. I didn't end up having the baby till 1/13. It didnt work when they induced me and let me tell you something not to scare you but, I was in the hospital all day long and doctors and nurses kept coming in and checking me. It was painful and uncomfortable and I wanted to be left alone. The end result was my midwife gave me two weeks to go into labor and I finally did the day before I was going to be induced. I wouldnt do it unless there was a medical reason. I really believe your body will begin the process on it's own. P.S. you don't get pain meds unless you start dilating, I didnt so I did not get anything and all I can remember is being poked and prodded. It was nooo fun!!

Okay, I was induced 10 days before my due date, because the baby was measuring close to 8 pounds, and just felt like it was the best option. I was high risk, I was 39 when she as born, and it was my 1st child. 

The first thing about being induced I didn't know was that you labor MUCH harder than you normally would, so the epidural is your friend.   That really helped me.

Now, this was in my case, and not standard, but Alina decided to start pushing out when I was only 2cm dilated, so it became a serious crisis, and required me to be rushed into surgery for an emergency C-section. Her heart rate dropped drastically. Because I already had the epidural, it saved us time on numbing me for the surgery. She was born perfectly healthy, and had no trauma from the birth whatsoever.  

Just be prepared for HARD labor if you decide to go natural. It was brutal.

And yes, I am getting SOME sort of pain meds lol

Honey it is up to you... I was 3 days over due the day I got induced and my doctor induced me because I was over due and only dialated to a two.... labor was not bad thanks to the epi! I got started on my I.V. at 6 a.m. and had my son at 5:59 p.m. It was not bad at all... and I'm glad I got induced because I'm sure I would have been miserable if I was still pregnant right now! But instead I am super happy with my little man and wouldn't change anything that happened to get him here.

I have no idea HOW you can do it without them.  I was screaming with pain. I had done Lamaze classes, and my poor husband was trying to do the breathing with me, and I gave him the stink eye and told him to shove the breathing up his ass.  

Oh and I did not mind the nurses or doctor shoving their fingers up my crotch because I atleast knew something was happening lol

LMAO!!!! That is hilarious. I didn't do lamaze because everyone I've talked to says they threw what they learned right out the window once contractions started. haha

I was induced,and it sucked I almost lost my daughter.  it took me 5 days to get to 3CM andddddd my water had been broken for 5 days as well.

I'm sure had I went all natural I would have told my boyfriend the same thing... I was getting so pissed and having terrible contractions every 2 mintues that lasted atleast a minute and that's when I called my nurse and was like get me the epi asap lol she was telling me oh ok I'll get it it should be here in about 45 minutes to and hour and all I could think was damn I should have said I wanted it earlier but lucky for me I got it 10 minutes after I asked for it

Yup,I'd never ever want to be induced ever again. 

Maybe that's why my daughter is the way she is,she had a rough start..

I started get the medicine for my induction at 7:00 on a monday night and i didnt have my baby until about 4:00 on wednesday morning. It was a very uncomfortable experience for me....but i was also on a medicine for high blood pressure that made me feel TERRIBLE!!! I didnt like the doctors and nurses coming in all the time...and i didnt eat or sleep for that whole time...next time i hope to go into labor natually

EEK didn't you get pitocin? I thought that pitocin makes you dilate?
