Eczema

posted 27th Jun
My little Zach has eczema and the heat is making it worse. I have been using Aveeno on it but it doesn’t seem to help anymore. Do any of you have any other suggestions?

When my son's body was still a little wet from his bath, I slathered him with baby oil to lock in the moisture.

My son has had it since he was an infant. I don't let him play outside everyday so he gets a quick shower every other day. Our ped. said everyday is not good and make sure the water is fairly cool. We also use Eucerin cream if there are no flare ups but lately there have been so many flareups because of the heat so we use a RX for Triamcinolone Acetonide ointment 2 X's a day.

My daughter had it really bad. We had to use vaseline after her baths. No bath wash, no shampoo, no lotion. clothes soap had to be free and all clear, all new clothes needed to be washed before used. If someone did not use free and clean clothes soap or had new clothes on her would break out really bad. Also we were told to only give her a bath no more then 2-3 times a week. For her rash we used hydrocortisone oitmint (not cream) or if it was really bad her doctor gave us an rx for something then I would but vaseline on top of it.

Don't know if you've found a solution yet or not, but I thought I'd let you know what's working for us. My DD has had eczema since she was 3 months and nothing was really helping. My friend told me about these hazelwood necklaces and since my DD’s been wearing it (within 2 weeks of putting it on) she’s hardly had any breakouts at all! It’s been about 5 months now that she’s been basically eczema free. Supposedly they work by absorbing excess acid in the body (the wood has that natural property). I know it sounds weird but it might be worth a shot!
Anyway, you can find them at www.hazelaid.com
They're really cute too & safe for babies to wear because the clasp is made special.
Hope it helps.

I have been thinking about the hazelwood neckalces too. I have read some good things about it. My daughter scratches so bad that she bleeds. I have tried so much stuff and been to the doctor so many times and nothing is working so I am definately thinking about the neckalces

Ohh..your poor daughter! I'm sorry you both have to deal with that. With eczema it's sometimes hard to know who it's harder for: the one suffering or the parents who have to watch their LO suffer! I hope she finds some relief soon!

I'm definately worried about finding something to help her. She can't play outside cause the grass makes her legs get inflammed and itchy. There are also nights that she wakes up from a dead sleep screaming and asking for lotion. I amalso pretty concerned about her getting teased at school when she goes. I can have her wear pants to school, but her arms are bad too.Ithink livingon the coast where its very humid isn't helping very much either

My boy has eczema too. The ped. dermatologist told us to use Cetaphil lotion every time after a bath and to keep him moisturized all day. The heat has been reaaly bad for him. He looks like he came back from a battle. My new son has it too and I hope it goes away. I also use a body paste prescribed by the doc for the body and limbs, and a separate hydrocortisone for face and ears. It's mostly on the elbows, behind the knees and the ear lobes now. It used to be all over his cheeks too. There's also aquaphor. Hope this helps.
