All you army wives/girlfriends/fiances

How long before your SO got or is getting deployed did you find out? My fiance is scheduled to leave in 2012 but everyone he's talked to said it will more than likely be by the end of 2009. I've head it was around a year but a friend of mine's boyfriend found out only 9 or 10 months early. I'm just asking because he and I both want a baby before he leaves, but he doesn't want to really TTC until he gets his orders. I really want him there for the birth, but if he only finds out 10 months or so before he leaves, then that only gives us a month, and I really doubt it will happen right away.

My husband just got home in Feb and found out in April that he deploys again in Feb 08. We wanted to try for another baby, but I don't want to do it all alone again. Going through a pregnancy and having a baby alone is not my idea of fun.

hey there. my husband found out in January of 2006 that he would be deployed in late March of 2006. so it was short notice for him and he was gone for a full year  . thankfully, that time is done and past, but just keep in mind that your dealing with the Army here... they'll change their minds at the drop of a dime. so be prepared and good luck!

anyway my hubby gets back in jan......but if he stays with his unit and we dont move like we are supposed to his unti deplys back out again in 2011

ugh so basically the years notice is bull! I know all will be ok when he's over there, but I just want to start our family before he's gone, you know? I reaaally don't want to go into labor alone and i really want him to meet his child the day he/she is born. He seems to think it's soo easy to get pregnant! That you decide one month "hey, you know what. I want a baby now." and bam by the end of that month you have that BFP. I've tried telling him it's not that easy but he just doesnt listen! I know he for sure wants one before he leaves but I just don't know how to get it into his head thatit's going to take time

this is how it went for me...started trying in july...found out in september... he left in october..went in labor the day he got home for leave

O wow how lucky is that?! when do they get their leave? I'm just a big wuss for pain and no one can comfort me the way he can. And quite honestly, I don't really even want anyone else in the roombut him. I don't want to pressure him to start trying before he's ready, but I mean, I don't want to be stuck a big pregnant blimp all by myself! haha I need someone to be there through all my emotions! I have a few really good friends, but a friend bond is soo much different than a love bond.

Depends on what unit he's in. Most of the 2nd BCT is deployed right now...so if he were to be put in a unit in there he'd have at least a year before he deployed again.

My husband got put in the 4th Engineers. He's lucky to have exactly 12months stateside.

I got pregnant in Nov 06 while he was on leave before he got deployed....I found out when he was enroute to Iraq, so I had to wait for him to call me from Kuwait to tell him the news. I ended up in labor early, so he got home for R&R 3 days after i had her. Then he didn't get home home til she was 8 months old.

O gosh I don't even know what that must have been like! Finding news out like that and then not being able to tell him right away! You ladies are all so strong. I really just can't imagine what it must be like. It's almost like being a single parent for awhile! What's R&R?

Rest and Relaxation. Leave from deployment. Depending on the length of the deployment it's either 14 or 18 days. My husband was home for 18 days because his deployment was 15 months.
