See that why I say looking at a possible deployment twice in 3 years isnt shit compared to how it is for some people.

I'm not putting anyone down or anything because its equaly as hard no matter how many times or when they have to go somewhere. It just kind of made me laugh to hear someone say like "dang thats a lot" basically. It just made me think "you think thats bad??" lol I wont complain. I love my husband and I support him no matter what and no matter how long or how often he is gone.

My DPs first deployment, he was only given 5days of notice for the 9month tour. Granted he's AF so of course Army might be slightly different. He was also supposed to go next month but now isn't (??) and it all gets very confusing. Granted I'm one of the lucky ones, my guy only deploys about every other year...he'll be up inFebruarys rotation cause he wasn't on thisdeployment though. We're hoping he can crosstrain into a field that has shorter and less dangerous deployments!

One really good thing to learn as an Army/military wife is you are lucky if you get knowlage of something ahead of time. My husband was deployed in Iraq for two years. We are moving to South Carolina in September, since they aren't deploying at the moment, we definatly dont want him to get deployed with the baby coming. Congratulations with you and your love. Being a military wife is amazing.

I definatly agree with that...I'm proud of what my guy does every day. I know it's tough on both of us, and it will be even more so when we do finally have a child, but it's something that I beleive in. I'm not sure I could be with a guy who worked for a cause I didn't beleive in...I think that would actually be harder than being a military spouse.

Quoting So unbelievably in love:“ How long before your SO got or is getting deployed did you find out? My fiance is scheduled to leave ... [snip!] ... only finds out 10 months or so before he leaves, then that only gives us a month, and I really doubt it will happen right away.”

My hsuband just got back in late february of this year from a 15 1/2 month deployment in Iraq. It was our first deployment and it was VERY difficult. His unit was extended during the troop surge from 4 month to 15 1/2, not immediately. It took them 3 extentions. He is with the 82nd Airborne Infantry Divisionout of Fort Bragg NC. We had over 80 divorces and many other "problems" but it is ALWAYS like that. Every one that was pregnant got to have their husbands come home for 2 weeks after the baby was born, unless they were notified before the birth and were able to make it home in time. But that is up to chain of command. They do not have to let them come home. And for many other people for other life threatening reasons their husbands did not get to come home. It's all up to the CO. So .. hopefully you have a good one. We are slotted for quick respones force duty to begin in March of 09. His unit has been deploied every year for the last 6 years right before Christmas. This will be the first Christmas in 7 years that they home!(hopefully) Everything is subject to change.
Stay strong and be well! Just keep up the prayers and let your family and friends know what is going on. Call the churches back home and let them know to put him on the prayer lists when thetime comes. I sent out letters to everyone and got back responses from all over the world saying that they were praying for my husband and his unit. Good luck!
Remember: Army wives do it with HOOAH!

Well we were given months notice but when it came down to the EXACT date, we were given about 24 hours notice. We were given months notice because they had to do training going to the field for 2 weeks at a time, going on monthly/annual training and things like that. The first deployment he was gone 12 months, the 2nd one he was gone 14 months, and this 3rd one is scheduled for 12 months. My husband is AD and has been in alittle over 5 years. We have about 2 1/2 years left. I can't wait until we're done with this military life.
