Weight Watchers??

posted 27th Jun
I'm extremly determined to lose my baby weight...Yesterday I posted a thread about using the diet supplement "Alli" and got mixed reviews about the program, so now I'm going to ask if there is anyone out there who uses Weight Watchers, and would like to know their thoughts on the program and what success they've had...Thanks ladies

I did weight watchers before getting pregnant and I lost 50 lbs. Its a really good program because you don't really have to buy any special food you just count your points. I loved it and I am going back once I have my baby.

I've had a lot of success doing an at-home WW. I don't want to go to meetings and get weighed, but I did fork out a few years ago for their points book and the points calculator. I like having something to look at and count with that isn't fat or calories. Nothing is off limits as long as it keeps you in your points range for the day.

I've also done South Beach but haven't stayed on it really long term- just long enough to scale back my carb addition and lose the second chin I'm prone to getting when my weight fluctuates 5-10 lbs. For me, it's harder to stick to because of the no-carb two weeks in the beginning and I always have to start over five or six times before I get it going and keep it going.

I haven't used WW, but know a lot of people who have and got great results with it. It's a great support system to have as well. Plus, if you are breastfeeding they also have guidlines for the breastfeeding mom.

The only guideline is you get 10 extra points for BFing. I am doing it, about to go weigh in for my second week. I lost 5.4lbs in my first 6 days (start a day later than the rest of the group because couldn't make it to the store to get good food and wasn't ready!). I love that I can eat what I want (still enjoying my pregnancy sweet tooth!) & lose the weight. It's simple. No complaints! Plus you don't even have to exercise, but I'm sure it would come off faster if you did. I have yet to begin that part...gotta go, will let you know how this one went!

I started weight watchers two months after I had AJ and I've been doing great. I have no idea how much I weigh since I dont have a scale.. but I know I've lost a ton of weight. My aunt weighed about 240 pounds when she started weight watchers and she got down to 160 in 9 months!

WOW!! Well I'll have to go online and check everything out...It sounds like it would be a lot easier than all of the other diets I've looked at so far...Thanks for the input everyone!

That's because it's not a "diet" =) I still eat my McDonalds. I love the smart ones frozen dinners and desserts too. They don't taste like some of the otehr tv dinner brands..actually taste good. The thai chicken peanut one is my favorite. Down two more pounds this week!

It is so nice! I tend to binge if restricted from certain foods, so being able to eat what I want defeats that. 24 pts left today for me =) Love that you get 10 extra/day when BFing!
Good luck!!!

That's great! You won't be disappointed! I loved Weight Watchers when I did it. I lost 30 pounds and kept it off for about 3 months before finding out I was pregnant. I have since gained back 20 pounds, but I cannot wait to start going to the meetings again. I am still a member online so I make sure I eat all the healthy guidelines they talk about. But I do not count points like I used to. I have also gotten my mom and grandmother hooked. They love it. Wish you success and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Oh and here's a little tip .. make sure you drink lots of water! They say to drink 64oz a day .. I usually try and drink 72-80oz.The water really does make a difference. And always plan ahead. I used to plan my meals the day before. It helps to stay on track and you know exactly how many points you may have left over for a snack or dessert. Also, if you fall off the wagon one day and feel like you totally bombed, don't get discouraged, it happens to everyone every now and again. Just start over the next day! Good Luck!!

its a great program. I know some one who lost over 100 pounds on it. I've been on the program on and off for 4 years stopping with each of my pregnancies. I've recently *this week* started back to it. oh and FYI they have lots of foods that you can eat as much as you want and not use points or use minimal points (fresh fruits/veggies). The better choices you make the more you can eat and you don't feel guilty for doing so. Another tip, EAT YOUR POINTS. I know you would think that you would do better if you skim off some points but I tried that and they stress it, if you skim points you won't lose. YOu have to drink lots of water, eat your points *all of them* and stick to the 8 guidelines.

Also you get a pool of 35 points to use here and there that reset on the day you choose (I weigh in on monday's now so my points reset then). You can also earn extra points by exercising, be it light to intense, the more you do the more you get and they suggest you eat these too for best results.
