Sunblock for a 3month old???

posted 27th Jun
Is there any kind thats safe to use? Everything I've found says 6months and up. We are going to my cousins house on Sunday for a bbq and I plan on keeping her in the shade, but would feel better if I could find some lotion to put on her just in case. I'm sure people will be carrying her around.

My oldest is so white he's practically clear and his pedi said no sunscreen until six months. Just keep them in the shade, or in a hat and a shirt with sleeves if you're in the sun.

the only reason they cant use sunscreen that young is because it could give them a rash and the lotion companies dont want to be at fault, so they put 6 months on the bottle which is generally when their skin is stronger. i use neutrogena sensitive skin sunscreen on caden, my grandma uses it and told me its very sensitive,, i tested it on a patch of skin on his leg.. no rash later.. so i started using it to go outside. now were going swimming so ive been using a regular sunscreen... the one with the pic of the little girl with the dog pulling on her diaper.. idk what brand.. its in a pink bottle. but he does great with it.. hes 5 months now. he was 3 months when i used the neutrogena. babies shouldnt be out in the sun long anyways.. but the sunscreen is good if theyre wearing short and a teeshirt and hat and your carrying them around to put some on their legs and arms.. or if you bring them swimming to slap a little on. puta t shirt on her though because their shoulders are usually very sensitive to sun and the shirt will better protect her. For my son i got him a little tight t shirt that is made for the water.. its cute and works great.. they have ones for girls too.. then i put on his hat and some sunscreen on his nose and cheeks, arms, legs and feet.

Thanks girls! I had called her doctor to ask and they gave the standard "you cant use it if says over 6 months" but i see babies out all over the place and they arent sunburnt babies. Sometimes our doctors office annoys me so.... I will look for the kinds you suggested.   and I love the website with the sunprotective clothing. Thats awesome!

I would say just do a patch test first, just to be on the safe side. Alot of things have to be said just to cover peoples asses, you know?
