I think it is a wonderful idea, and I am going to buy one for Lincoln, but that will be the ONLY doll he's allowed to have. hahaha

I thought the same thing, but figured maybe it was just the way I was looking at them...if that makes any sense.

ican see it, buti guess since i know the markers i know what to look at. the biggest thing is the eyes, and the eyes don't look all that different from other eyes i've seen on baby dolls. but there are more markers on the dolls than just the facial features, and that's where i see the difference from every other baby doll.

If that is her in the photo she is stunning. While i dont have a baby with down syndrome i tihnk its a great idea and if i saw one i would get , any baby is a gift to us.

hmmm... i guess i just think the dolls look very doll-like-- except maybe less creepy than the usual doll b/c they look less artificial... w/ more detail to their facial structure.

i'm not an expert, but i can easily identify a real child w/ down's ... might be the angle of the photo of the dolls though.

either way,

Kelly actaully has3 of these dolls coming to her for her birthday next month. I am ordering her one and I think her Nana is getting her one as well.

I agree with Lincoln's mom.... When you have a child with Down syndrome, it is much easier to recognize the characteristics on another child (or doll in this case). A lot of our kids don't have the "typical" look that most people recognize as someone having the "look". That is mostly because our babies look just like that... babies. As they grow up and bigger, the physical traits do have a tendancy to become more prominent. Not always, but sometimes, yes.
I can't help thinking that is maybe why the person who designed the dolls (a mom with a child that has Down syndrome) didn't design them with "stronger" physical traits... idk... just a thought.

I have read a lot of comments that people think these dolls are cute and yes, even beautiful.... well this is how we look at our special kids and other individuals with Down syndrome ALL the time. We always see their strength, their beauty and the pure love and joy they have in them. If these dolls help change people's negative perspective and learn to see our kids and all people with varying disabilities as cute and beautiful individuals who have A LOT to offer, can you imagine what a much nicer world this would be?

I think this is an absolutely beautiful idea! Why shouldn't they have something they can hold onto and feel they look like? They're very cute dolls, and yes though the features aren't strong showing the down syndrom, you can see it in the eyes and sort of the mouth of the doll you can view more from the side.

GREAT IDEA!

I agree... I think it is a nice idea, but I think that immature people will abuse this good intention.
