getting your child vaccinated

are there any reasons I wouldn't want my child to get the hepatitis shot or any others? I've heard some ppl are against it and I was wondering why....

you need to figure that out for yourself.

research each vaccine and then research the diseases they protect against.

Do research. I looked up all the ingredients in the vaccinations and I studied up on it a lot. I am not vaccinating until she is at least 2 yrs old. and at that time I will request mercury free vaccines

They do not use mercury in vaccines anymore or thermisol-which is what some people thought was a link to autism.

Read the Vaccine Book by Dr Sears.. Its an awesome resource, its not for or against vaccination it just helps to explain everything so you can make up your own mind. I read it, but decided we have to stick with the regular vaccination schedule b/c we are going overseas in August and alot of the diseases that we dont have anymore here are still around in other parts of the world. Dr Sears does recommend an alternate vaccination schedule that we probably would have done had we not been traveling. It spreads them out so the baby doesnt get overloaded and also doesnt give the aluminum containing shots more than one at a time. Which is alot safer imo.

I myself don't see a need for a newborn to get a hep b vaccine immediately.  I am pretty sure my baby won't be engaging in any high risk activities while in the nursery...

I think there are some potential side effects for that one, and I would rather wait a little while to give it to them.  I would think it would only be important to get this one right away if a family member was known to have hep B.

The vaccine book by doctor sears is really helpful, I recommend anyone concerned about vaccines should read it.

Of course all of this is a personal decision that only a parent can make.

I am all for getting all the vaccines, but we have just decided to space them out a bit and do them on a slightly different time table.

They no longer "make" vaccines with mercury anymore, true...but they still have the vaccines with mercury in them, from before. They weren't required to throw them away, and sometimes you will get vaccines that aren't mercury free. It was used as a preservative, and it works very well...doubtfull that they'll just quit using what they already have stocked. That is, until it's gone.
