Any suggestions helpful - LONG

posted 27th Jun
Ok, I will try to make this short and to the point. I have been "fluffy"   all of my life, but the one time when I was a healthy weight for my height was back when I was about 17.   I am done having babies, so I can't use my back-up excuse of "What if I get pregnant again?" anymore. I think I may actually be successful in not starting smoking again this time around, and I want to be HEALTHIER is my key goal. I would like to get to around 160lbs, which is still slightly more than I could aim for, but I think it is more realistic than 145 or 150lbs. I have never in my life been on any kind of diet or nutrition regimen of any kind and the last time I was truly physically active was when I played BBall and soccer in high school. I weigh 205lbs right now. With 3 kids any exercise would probly have to be something I can do WITH the kids. There is no gym membership in my future I cannot afford it and would probly not make the time to go if I could. We don't eat out and I try to make meals as healthy as possible for the kids (and bc if I let him my husband would OD on carbs and fat  ) I know I could do better, but my hubby is VERY finicky and I don't have time to make 2 dif meals 3 times a day. Anyways, basically I hagve no clue where to start as I have NEVER tried being healthier and more fit before, but I am realising that if I don't do it now, I won't and I will be my mom and have so many health issues I would be surprised if she makes it past 55.   Thanks for any suggestions (seriously, ANY) and support.

I was 206 when I got pregnant with my 4th child. She is almost 3 months old and I am down to 166. You have to start with activity. It doesn't matter what you do just move more. Take stairs instead of elevators, park farther way when you go into the grocery store. It's the small things that add up. Stop eating past 7 p.m. You would be amazed at how much that helps. Drink tons of water. I started walking. The older kids walk with me while the younger ones are in a stroller. We made losing weight a family ordeal. It helps knowing that you don't have to do it yourself. It's not so much what you eat either, it's more about how much you eat. You have to limit yourself but don't take out all of your weakness foods. I love chocolate so I allow myself a little when I want it. I just don't go crazy with it anymore. For toning up you don't have to go out and buy weights or go to the gym, use what you have at home. A gallon of milk, laundry detergent, canned veggies. I mean use what you have and you'll be amazed how much better you feel when you can look at yourself and tell that you look better. One more thing, don't weigh yourself everyday. Once a month is best. I suggest Bob Green's book, the Best Life Diet.
Wow that was long--sorry. But good luck!

I completely agree with everything thatwas said! You will feel so much better about yourself when you exercise. If nothing else, try to walk everyday. It will make a difference. I do not have a bunch of exercise equipment. I just use what I have around the house. I also keep a 3 year old and she loves to exercise with me. You have to make the time to do the little things during the day. And drink LOTS of water. Just get in the habit of doing these things and they will become natural. PM me if you need to talk! We're here for you!

My mom swears by cutting way back on the soda and other junk, getting the recommended 3 servings per day of low-fat dairy products and walking. She's lost weight doing that several times. And it worked for me when I stuck with it too! Also, pay attention to portions. Take a look at what one portion is really supposed to be and stick with that. If you eat it at a normal speed instead of eating like a Marine at bootcamp, you WILL get full but you WON'T be over-filled. I found that REALLY worked for me a couple of years ago!
