Ultrasounds in the third trimester...

posted 27th Jun
Okay, so I'm a little pissed off! My best friend had another ultrasound this week and she's due 3 wks after me! She's having a normal pregnancy so why would she get one and I wouldn't...and I'm high risk? WTF! I'm SO angry. Her pictures are just the cutest thing. I SO want to see my little man that I am going crazy!

What does your insurance do? If you're in the third trimester...have you had any ultrasounds?

I just want to know everything is okay!

it all comes down to your insurance company. I get ultrasound every week because i'm high risk though. What exactly is it you're high risk for?

its really up to your dr. they have to request it in order for it to be covered.

I was lucky - my dr did an ultrasound at every visit for every patient. I asked him how in the world my insurance would pay for that and he said they only billed for 2 of them....

Well I am not high risk but I got a 3d/4d at 28 weeks and one at 33 weeks both covered by my insurance.

As long as it states in our insurance that the ultrasounds in 3rd trimester are medically necessary, our insurance covers them. I've had at least 5, being that I am high risk (low fluid levels) and they are all covered.

Its up to your doctor. I had one every visit with my youngest, On;y one with my son, and one half way and at the end with my oldest. Its covered under your insurance if the doctor requests it.

I just had another u/s this past monday , and the only reason why I was "lucky" enough to get one is b/c she was measuring HUGE at my 3d/4d that I had paid for ... and the midwife wanted to get an estimate on how big shes going to possibly be ... I might end up getting one more at 38/39 weeks IF I go that long without popping   just to see where she is size wise then , to make sure going through the process of labor is going to have a good outcome, if shes too big my doc. is talking c-section time from the start   Good luck

I had one yesterday, and I'm 36 weeks. I asked my doctor and he said "sure no problem"

He put down on the paper that it was for measurements, but he wouldn't have done it unless I asked.

It has alot to do with your insurance company, but also on the dr you have. I had to have us's every 2 weeks but it was medically necessary. Sometimes drs will do one at 36 weeks to check fetal growth but its not necessary.

I have to have another one, but I have asthma... so they just want to check and make sure that she is growing right...

i had one in my 3rd trimester, but i didn't get any printout pictures because he was so squished   she did it to measure his head

later when i went to L&D for low blood sugar (before we knew what it was) they did another ultrasound (no pictures for me again   )and all you could see was the hair on his head!
