progestrone injections.

my doctor just called...

said my progestrone level dropped from 19.1 to 9.6 and i'm been using progestrone depositories...he's talking about giving me injections...has anyone ever done this before?

now i'm really worried something is gonna happen -sighs-

but he did say my u/s from yesterday looks good...there is a heartbeat, so thats good.

Hi, i used the pessaries at the start too, and then got the injections later on. They do hurt, for like 2 days after its hard to sit down lol, bt yeh it is totally worth it. Hope it goes ok!

I was just told the injections work just as well as the depositories...

do you have to give them to yourself? apparently they don't give them anymore.

so i need to decide whether to keep doing the depositories or get the shots...

well according to my dr my levels from bloodwork might not show the correct levels which using the depositories...i don't know what to do...

I put in the pessaries myself everyday but they weren't working. I was using it for preterm labour as i was contracting heavily before i was even half way through the pregnancy. I had to get them (the shots) given to me in hosp once a week, ive not heard of giving them to yourself? you have to rub the area afterwards otherwise you get little cyst type things and it hurts! At your early stage, if the pessaries arent working then you should go for the shots, they are definately worth a try.

the doctor made it sound like they work excatly the same...just with the depositories the levels don't come up in the bloodwork correctly sine they are inserted vaginally.

i've been on the depositories since i was 4 weeks...i don't understand why they would just stop working though...my level was 15.2 on the 11th and then 19.1 on the 13th...now it's 9.6...it just doesn't make sense...

what side affects are you talking about? how did you know you were getting ready to m/c?

I HAD JUST HAD A MISCARRIAGE, I WAS PREGGO ON 11/5/05 AND LOST IT ON 1/09/06, 6WKS LATER I WAS ALREADY 6WKS PREGGO WITH MY DAUGHTER (WEIRD, BUT I WAS) I WAS HAVING THE SAME PAINS.I HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME FROM THE DOCS AND STARTED HAVING PAINS, I CALLED HIM UP AND HE TOLD ME HE WAS GOING TO PUT ME ON PROGESTORONE SUPPOSITORIES. BUT HE TOLD ME THAT THEIR WAS A RISK. THAT1 OUT OF I DONT KNOW HOW MANY(CANT REMEMBER, YOU CAN GOOGLE IT AND IT WILL TELL U THE SIDE AFFECTS) WOULD HAVE A BIRTH DEFFECT, I TOOK MY CHANCES, I TRIED FOR 5YRS TO COME OUT PREGGO AND RECENTLY LOST ONE, THE PAINS WERE HELL, WORST THAT LABOR PAINS.THANK GOD I DID, MY DAUGHTER CAME OUT HEALTHY, BEAUTIFUL, AND IS SUPERSMART, SHES 21MONTHS AND IS BILINGUAL, SPEAKS AND UNDERSTANDS BOTH LANGUAGES.

ive never had the injections, if it hurts i wouldnt do it (i hate shots, and needles) it should be the same thing but like i said, itook the chance and my daughter isfine, it 1 out of 1millions i guess.

I say go for it, if god gave you a second chance, go for it.oyu may never know until the baby is born. And thats a chance that I was willing to take. Is this your first baby?

yes this is my first baby.

my mom said to use the depositiories for the weekend and see if i can get another blood test on monday to see what my levels are.

they r probably going going to keep you on hormones until ure about 4 months, my doctor kept me on it until 5months and those suppositories are expensive about $231. a month medicaid didnt want to pay for it. I would play safe then sorry, if your numbers are going up and down, its best to stay one it. If this pregnancy goes through (hoprfully it does) your next one (if you want another) will be better. I have no pains at all. Normal healthy pregnancy with this baby. Ask your doc wat are your chances of it happening again, for your numbers to go out of control. I would stay on it.

Yeah i know they are and thats fine...i'll do anything to make sure this pregnancy sticks. i read the placenta takes over after about 12 weeks so progestrone isn't extremely important then...

someone also said that your progestrone numbers do go up and down sometimes and it doesn't nec mean bad things...the doctor said my level is low, but it could be incorrect too since with supposorties it doesn't hit the blood right away.
