Why are you mad at me?!

posted 27th Jun
Hey ladies, as some of you probably know, I have an interview today. I am SUPER excited..but I haven't been able to show it very much. My husband doesn't have a job because he's been trying to get into the Navy..and they're just sending him around in circles. Anyway, I guess his dad and my dad aren't making it any easier for him..they pretty much call him dumb, and all this and that. (Not directly..but you know.) Also..EVERYYYONE tells his/us that he reminds them of Van, from the Reba show. Looks, personality, and goofiness. But everyone knows Van is the hot, STUPID husband, and my husband isn't dumb..so I don't know. It hurts his feelings. Now he has been pouting around the house saying "Everyone helps you to get these awesome jobs, and no one wants to help me. I'm going to be the pussy house husband, while my wife does the man's job." Blah blah. Thing is..he HASN'T really applied for that many jobs, he's applied for like ONE online, and I told him that. He says "But I want to bring home the bacon..I'm the man." But until then...I guess I will, because ONE of us needs to work, lol. Thing is..he's mad at the world lately, but he's also not putting much effort into this..so I don't know what to do.

Thank you! And yeah..Peris (my husband) has been really awesome about taking care of Toula..but he's just depressed I guess. We both agreed last night that whoever goes to work has the easy way out..and that staying home is the hardest job possible.

gotta love how they think that babies/kids do everything for themselves and the housework and cooking is magically done as well.

My husband is the main bread winner for now. I will be going back to work though. What job are you being interviewed for?

First off, a job is a job, and you have two kids to no one has the right to make fun of someone, regardless of any shortcomings, who sacrifices and wants the best for his family. That's what a true family man is. And I'm sorry they're making him feel stupid - my father made me feel stupid and fat for years (even when I was 123 lbs & 5'7" and had the only "A" in my college course) and it truly hurt but I got to teh point that I didn't care anymore. I was going to do things for myself and succeed regardless. I know males need "approval" and recognitian when it comes to achievements from asmany people as possible, but I'msure you're not the only onehe knows who is supporting his decision to join theNavy. And he shouldn't feel bad if he doesn't getinducted - whatever happens doesso as it intends.

And have you spoken to your family about how you feel without your husband being there?

And one job? When I lived in Chicago, I applied at at least 200 jobs (literally) before finding the job at the lawfirm I first workedat. He needs to be dilligent and presistant about getting a job if he truly wants to support (or help support) his family.

Hey..>Good luck at your interview!  I just got home from one myself, and I think it went very well. I hope you get the job, and when you do you should feel proud of yourself that you are going out and doing something to better yourself and your family.  The next time anyone says anything bad about your husband, tell them to STOP IT!  If they continue then tell them that if they can't control themselves from belittling him then you won't be coming around very often...and stick to it.  There is no reason that anyone should have negative things to say about him...also maybe help him looking for a job, even though he's waiting on the Navy, it won't hurt for him to do something else in the meantime in order to help out financially

Good Luck with the interview! And hopefully Peris gets on the ball with finding a job or whatever he's going to do. It gets annoying when someone thinks an amazing job is going to just fall into their lap.

A few years ago, Rich had gotten tired of taking crap at work so he up and quit. He didn't wait until he had another job lined up... just quit. And left me to pay all of the bills on my own. After a month and him only applying to like 2 places, I got pissed. I told him that he better get a job somewhere, I didn't care if it was 7-11 or McDonalds... but he had better find something. Then he would complain that they weren't going to pay him enough. So I was like "Yeah?! Well minimum wage is more than what you're making sitting on your @$$ at home." So he found a job within the next month. (We didn't have a child at that time, so he was just sitting home playing video games all day. Pissed me off!)
