posted 26th Jun
so0o0 is it true if you don't pump your b0obies every 3-4 hours you lose your milk supply? I'm kind of confused, am I supposed to be doing this that often?

I pump every four hours when my son eats. If you don't pump often your supply won't be good or you could dry out.

the more you pump the more your brain tells your body to make. and the more fat you will have in your milk supply which is great!!

Do you mean if you are exclusively pumping?

if you are nursing frequently, then you don't have to pump unless you want to build your supply and store up milk...if you are just pumping, then if you don't pump pretty much every 3 hours, then your supply will suffer... especially if your in the 1st month or so b/c your supply is getting regulated

No!!!! Every body. not everybody, but Every BODY is different. If you don't pump every 2-3 hours you'll probably just get engorged..but like Babygoo said, her milk dried up....so you never know. Just try to bf and pump and feed and see how it goes. If it doesn't go well, like you planned, donj't be hard on yourself...

It does matter but it depends on how fast your let down is. At first when your supply is getting regulated you may be able to get a lot in only 10 minutes Just as an example lets say 6, but if you only continue to pump 10 minutes your pump may only be asking for 3 and when your supply regulates you wont get as much

I heard the lactation consultant tell someone you could pump every 2 hours before bed, then go aone 5/6 hour strech then again in 3 hours and it would even itself out. hope that helps.

I'm so sorry, I should have looked, I hope your little one gets out soon!!! I looked at your profile, and she is beautiful!!!!!

pump until the milk stops flowing, and then pump somemore...your pump will never empty your boob like your little one will, also try massaging the boob before you pump, it will help. don't get discouraged if you feel like you aren't making a lot of milk, I thought it was bull that it took a few weeks for your supply to get regulated, but no, its true.... You can do it!!!!!
