posted 26th Jun
Do any of you ladies bring home the money in the family..while your husband stays home and takes care of the children?

I am the bread winner in my house, but I have an engineering degree. We don't have any kids yet, but he does do most of the house work when I am working. He has his own things going for him too though that keep him busy. He is an evangelist and now he just picked up a part time job as a hotshot driver.

Not us, but our neighbors do (even though they want the roles reversed)
But even still he does a great job.
Their children (17, 15, & 7) are well behaved and we love them! (they are also home-schooled).
I don't think my husband would be able to do that.

hopefully within the next few years i will be able to work full time and have him go back to school or stay home and take care of the kids. he says he wishes he could stay home like me and spend time with our family all day but i'm not the kind to not stay busy so i'm going out of my mind.

Yes... well... he stayed home from when my firstborn was 6 weeks until she was 6 months old... after that he worked 4 days a week for 3 months... then back to full-time for all but 3 months a year... (when my retired parents are in Florida for the winter... they watch our kids 3 days a week...) But I am the primary breadwinner.... so it is hard for me to understand when I read about ladies who can't buy this or that or have to ask their man for money... I buy what I want...

Yeah I used to feel so guilty when I want to spend some money on myself. He gets mad at me when I tell him I feel guilty lol. He'd say something like, we made the decision together for you not to work, why are you feeling guilty now?? But even still when it is a large sum, it wouldn't matter who the bread winner was, we would still discuss it first.

I should add that my dh could stay home full-time if he wanted... but he likes his job, so I support him.... And I know the OP didn't ask, but because I went back to work full-time when she was 6 weeks, two really wonderful things happened (that wouldn't have happened otherwise...) One, my daughter has a wonderfully bonded relationship with my dh... She goes to him.... She favors him... (over me... lol...) and Second, she is able to go with different people and be o.k.... For those who don't know, some children who are primarily with only one person (parent or otherwise), their child cannot be without them (even for 30 minutes.. sometimes less...) One of my daughters goes to daycare twice a week and she hugs all of the kids who are bawling their heads off because they miss their moms... My kid doesn't do that...
