I had Cervadil put in at 1am on a Monday night and it had to stay in for 12 hours......when they took it out it was 11am on Tues. I had cramps and contractions all that night and when they took it out it did help soften me up and dilate from 1cm to 2cm. They broke my water and I went to 3cm immediately. They went ahead and gave me an epidural(not the full blown one) and started the pitocin. Then it was just waiting at that point. I was in no pain and dilating pretty regular. I never felt REAL BAD contractions up until I was almost complete and starting to push. They gave me the full blown epidural and then I pushed for like 40-50 mins and she arrived at 10:26pm Tuesday night. So total like 22 hours, but active after the Cervadil 11 hours.......I was comfy for the most part and it was just waiting and keeping busy. The last 2 hours when she was crowning and I was pushing were the most I was uncomfortable but it went by pretty fast and then she was here! Once she is out there is instant relief!
It depends on the person I think. It was pretty steady after they broke my water and started my pitocin. I went in the hospital at barely 1cm dilated and still not soft or thin. Also no real contractions and I was 5 days overdue.

I was induced at 7:30am and by 5:53pm the same day I gave birth. It goes pretty fast but I hate to scary you the pitocin makes the labor more intence and the contractions closer together... I wanted to go natural but because I didn't really have a break between contractions (because of the pitocin and the fact my son was face up.. making us spine to spine and giving me back labor...OUCH) I got the drugs...
Good luck! I wasn't trying to scare you just tell you the truth on how it really is.

I had the gel (by the way they don't tell you that it makes your coochie VERY swollen and it feels like you can't even close your legs) I was getting contractions 3 min apart within the hour. Apparantly it never works on the first round of the gel so they thought for sure my body was going for it. The contractions were gone by the next morning but started up on their own by that afternoon and I had my son that night.

i had the cervadil gel and it didnt make me swell at all. i was given the cervadil at 7pm sunday night. pitocin started and water broked at 7am and was ready to push by 4:30 the same day. the pitocin does make your contractions more intense and closer together, like someone else has already said. if youre planning on getting the epi, which i was, its not so bad. but it can be quite painful if youre planning on going without.
my son was also sunny side up and gave me back labor, ouch! i also had to puch for 2 1/2 hrs (exhausting!) b/c he kept head butting my pelvic bone. poor baby came out with a bruised forehead, conehead and a hell of a headache.

Iwasnt effaced or dialated at all. iwent in on may 19th at 8:30 pmfor cervidil (it was a shoe string looking thing) it hurt like a mother when they put it. they took it out at 8:30 am on the 20th. i was 1 cm dialated by then.at 9 am i started pitocin, at 10:45 ami had a shot of demerol bc of the pain at 12 my water broke onits ownand 1230 pm i was 4 cm dialated i got an epidural at 1pm i was fully dialated by 3:30pm butmy doctor wanted to wait for her to come down a bit befire i pushedand so i started pushing at 4:15 and after 6 pushes (2 practice ones) my girl was born at 4:22pm. even if people tell you pitcon makes contractions stronger it wont matter when you get that beautiful epidural.. lol... i remember my aunt came in the delivery room right before i started pushing and was like damn those are some strong, close contractions.. i was like oh yea..well i dont feel it... =] make sure you eat ALOT before you go in though, you cant eat when your in labor. i was starving...oh and try to get alot of sleep. good luck mama.

I wasn't dilated, just 50% effaced and had to be induced because of preeclampsia 2 wks early. I wasn't given any gel. They put a tablet at my cervix that is used for people that have stomach ulcers (weird, I know) but of course you can't take it orally when you're pregnant cause it makes you dilate and go into labor. Anyway, the first night the tablet just made me dilate to 1-2cm. They started the pitocin at 6:30am and I had regular contractions every 2-3 mintues but not too strong. I never dilated anymore and at 3:30pm my doc decied to give me the tablet again that night and to start the pitocin again the next day. Soo, they did that and the next morning I was 2-3cm and by that time they started the pitocin and about a half hour later broke my water. Instant pain. Plus I had to have an IV of Magnesium since I was preeclamptic which made my Central Nervous System calm to prevent seizures and in return I was very weakand felt like Ihad the flu or something. SoI got an epidural but it didn't work properly and I felt 10-15 seconds of the peak of contractions. Very painful. So they gave me another epidural which I felt more for some reason but it workedand the pain was gone. Sadly, at 6:30 that evening I didn't dilate past 5cm so they did a C-section. All that work for a C-section. It was so worth it though!. Good luck, you'll be fine!!

I had Cytotec, which I haven't heard many ladies had, most I heard when induced, they get cervadil. But anyhoo, they started pitocin and broke my water at 7:30 monday night and by 1:10am tuesday I had Tait

I was also given the pill. It was put in at 6pm, Pit started at 12:30am and baby by 3:15pm the next day. But it's not a guaranteed thing. Some women never take to it and also it leads to more emergency c-sections. Just be prepared for anything to happen. We thought we wouldn't be one of those cases and I ended up with a c-section after 3 hours of pushing.

Hmm...so it seems like most of you had your baby pretty much the same day you got the pitocin...so assuming my body responds well to the gel and it i should be good to go lol. I just dont want to be in the hospital in labor off and on for four days before they decide to give me a csection....i really really dont want that.....
