Have you tried a place that specializes in kids' haircuts?  My baby is 5 months old and doesn't get haircuts, so we don't have to deal with it (yet!!), but good luck

I just read that your child has Aspergers? If you're cutting his hair with clippers instead of sissors, it could very well be the noise from it.

I've been a hairstylist for 15 years and always loved doing the kids even before I got married and had my own. However it always seems it's the boys that hates getting haircuts, and I would wonder if we unintentionally instill that in them.Never make it sound like a chore, just let him know the hour before what's going to happen(in a cheery voice and tell him if he's good you'll go to the park or dollar store. But make sure the hairstylist has experience(is quick) and good with kids.I used to hate it when parents would bring their kids in and say"I know Buddy but we gotta do this" like we were castrating him or something-good greif!Good luck, definately bring him somewhere different and don't be afraid to ask for someone good with kids (ahead of time).

I sit my 3 year old in front of the t.v. and put his favorite video or his favorite channel on, then I tell him if he is good I will give him a reward after the hair cut. I also give him something to dust the hair off as I cut, and he loves this cause he thinks he is helping me. It is a bigger hassel to do it near the t.v. but it is better than hearing him freak out the whole time.

I use our own buzzers and I put Conner in his booster seat with the tray on it. I put him in front of the tv with Sesame Street on and have him watch tv. He pays more attention to the tv than to his hair being cut. He used to freak out about the buzzer but I turned it on in front of him and he checked it out before I put it to his head. He does get angry sometimes but only when he's already cranky... It works well for me, I was able to give him a mohawk that way....

OMG good to know it's not just my kid that freaks out for a haircut!!! My oldest daughter is 4yrs old and totally FREAKS out when we take her to get her bangs cut! We've tried bribes - doesn't work. We always try to make it an exciting thing for her before we go like telling her it's just like on Americas Next Top Model (she likes watching their make-overs), doesn't work. The last time we went to a childrens salon and she freaked out when it was done "Put them back!" she cried. I would let her bangs grow out but she WON'T let me put hair clips in so they hang in her eyes and it makes her look scraggly. I used to do them while she was sleeping when she was little but now she wakes up. BUT all hope is not lost! Tonight she actually let me cut her bangs without a freak-out! I didn't do anything different than usual, I just combed out her bangs after her bath and said I'd be super quick and that then I'd be able to see her eyes, and she actually let me do it!! All she said was "when you're done don't tell me I look pretty". ..lol SO keep trying and good luck! I feel ya!
