ok so i guess ive not been told right.. people tell me how you girls 1st appt went and what all happend.. if none of what i expected is going to happen then whats the point of going in the morning, especially if my medicaid aint kicked in yet! errrrrrrr

Don't stress. It's not a big deal. You can ask your doctor all the questions you want when you get there. Not much happens at your first app. usually an ob interview. Thats about it. Just be patient. You have your whole pregnancy to hear the heartbeat and such.

the first appt is like one of the most important..

You're only 6 weeks. You have 34 weeks to go. More than enough time to figure out how many are in there. Just relax. And unless twins and triplets run in your family I would assume just one until otherwise stated.

It's important to go early in your pregnancy. So you can get your prenatel vitamins and make sure the baby is ok. My last pregnancy I went in about 16 weeks and lost the baby at 20 weeks. Get checked just in case.

Your first visit they usually do a pelvic exam, a swab, blood tests, urine sample, a prescription for pre-natal vitamins, they may try to listen to the heartbeat (but it may be too early), they will give you a bunch of material to read, all kinds of stuff. It is a hugely important appointment.

at mine they gave me a breast exam, did a cervical swab, took urine and blood samples, and gave an ultrasound. we also talked about any questions/concerns.
