Allergy to Egg Whites
posted 26th Jun
So I just thought I'd share my news that Emma is allergic to Egg Whites. The allergy is severe, so the doctor isn't sure if she'll grow out of it or not. He said it's a 50/50 chance, and we'll have to have her tested again in a year to see if the levels are still out of range for the allergen. I'm sort of depressed about it, but I'm amazed at how in-tune Emma is with her body. She always adamantly refused eggs when I offered them to her, and any time she ate something with Egg White in it she would curl up in my lap and not want to go.
This sort of complicates life a little bit though, since I have to check labels on certain foods and what not.

I am sorry to hear that... I am allergic to egg whites as well, and it sucks.. I do not have a severe allergy to them, I can eat certain things that have egg whites, like mayo and that kind of stuff... store bought things (besides cookies and cakes) and it depends on how far down the label they are as well (bc the further down the less amount in them) thankfully labels no say in bold contains eggs and milk and that kind of allergy stuff! I have an awesome recipe for eggless cake... it is fantastic, and when I really want chocolate I make it up... just a thought, I am sure she is still little for cake, but maybe for special occasion... good luck (and get use to weird looks when you tell people she can't have something bc of eggs! that is about the hardest allergy bc it is so uncommon) I am glad they found it early on her though.
