Rebecca's 6 m. appt w/ (maybe) odd reaction to shot?

posted 26th Jun
Hi all, today we took Rebecca for her 6 month checkup. 19 lbs 14 oz, 27 1/2 inches long. She got 4 vacines, one oral, three injected. (sorry, I left the papers at the doctors on accident of which ones they were) I know one was HIB, I think one was oral polio but the other two I cant remember......
Okay, so anyways, at her 4 month, she got shots, and the next morning she had these pin point blue bruise like things on her legs, all over them. I didnt think anything of it and just assumed that she hit her legs up against the bar of her swing. Well, today she got more shots, and again, these pin point bruises showed up all over her legs. They dont seem to cause pain, but I think its odd and am almost convinced its a reaction to the shots. I'm calling the doc in the morning to set up another appointment to talk to him. Have you ever heard of this?

They are all over her legs or right by the injection site?

My daughter used to bruise everytime she would get her shot injection, but it was right near where they injected it.

It's normal. My daughter always gets a blue bruise at the spot where the needle went into her leg. She usually ends up with one or two on each upper thigh for a couple of days after her appointment.

no, they're all over her legs, not just where the needle was. It seriously looks like someone sprinkled blue spots all over her legs and feet. Its from her pelvis down to her toes. Everywhere...almost like a rash, but blue instead of red. Its very odd. They look like little bruises.

I just did some research on it, and its showing something called Petechiae which can signifiy a blood disorder, leukemia or a a few other things. It says that it needs to be investigated by a doctor. Now I'm offically scared to death.

wikipedia say's "The significance of petechiae in children depends on the clinical context in which they arise. Petechiae in children can occur with viral infections. In this setting they do not necessarily signify serious illness. They are the hallmark of some possibly serious illnesses, however, such as meningococcemia, various causes of thrombocytopenia, and leukemia. Therefore, their presence should not be ignored."

don't worry momma! just check with the doc... they'll be able to tell the difference!

I'm still scared, I'm expecting the worse   My husband says not to worry and just see what the doc says, but you know how mommies are. I'm so stressed now.   I'm hoping its nothing but I'm still nervous.

I don't think I have ever had a full night sleep since she was born almost 2 years ago now.

Whenever I do that to myself, I make my hubby take us to the ER!!

I doubt it is something serious, though since it goes away

I didnt sleep much last night, but Rebecca's doctors appointment is in about 45 mins. I asked if it was something I shouldnt worry about but they said "No, you need to bring her in." So, gah! I'm a nutcase today. Cross your fingers that its just something odd and not harmful.
