Getting your High School diploma online

Pros and cons?

Pros

• Online Diplomas are fast, and you don’t need to learn anything.
• Online diploma schools will give credit for life experience.
• Employers often don’t check to see if the school is real.

Cons

• Online diplomas are not accepted by colleges.
• High school diploma online tests encourage cheating.
• 16 states outlaw online diploma mills.
• Online diploma schools are not accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Many online diploma 'schools' aren’t real schools; they’re just printing
  presses in foreign countries.

Is it really true that online diplomas arent accpected by colleges?

For jobs checking, none of mine did but all of my friend's did. Some called the high school she graduated from while some had her bring in her high school diploma.

wow. ive never heard of any jobs that have you bring in your high school diploma. O_O wow

i guess it depends one where it was done online... and ex of mine (still really good friend) did his schooling online and got his diploma, and they verified it and accepted in the army... or maybe they just accepted him because they wanted one more recruit...   who knows...

If you can, dont do this. Try and get a diploma from your HS, not a GED or an online diploma. It looks better on job applications.

I believe you can get into a CC with an online diploma, but I am not sure about that.

Graduate from high school, do that for yourself. Then you have all the options open to you, not just the limited few an online diploma or GED would give you.

gggeee.. every job that i have ever had required me to bring my diploma! even at stupid places like dairy queen did.

thats not true..... i have a GED and i have gotten every job that I have applied for! a online diploma and GED is just as good as graduating from high school.. there is nothing wrong with it

very true very true. My b/f has a GED and they treat it as if he had his high school diploma.

I just thought that was interesting. I'm still in HS, and have to take 3 credits of classes (six classes total) online, because I took this year off while I was ahead instead of graduating early. I'm still getting my regular diploma, even though I'm taking classes online. But I just wanted to respond to see answers and thought that it was interesting, because I never heard that you couldn't go to college with a online diploma, especially when you can go to one with a GED. I guess that doesn't make sense to me.

I'm enrolled in the district high school, but I'm taking my classes through BYU but they're high school courses.
