Make sure to keep her hydrated! ALWAYS keep your and her hands clean. Write more later. On our way back to the doc.

Thank you. Well, we got tamiflu for her and it seems to be working.

Ugh, I would have been hella frustrated with that whole situation. They're pretty sure we went thru swine flu here (well, DH and the kids) but when I called and told the dr our symptoms, they said stay home, keep doing what I was doing with them and they should feel better in a few days (which they were). DH and DS still have the cough but other than that, they're good now.

I feel VERY blessed that I've never had a wait like that when I've taken Siri to the ER (knock on wood!) The last time we were there it was a 20 min visit from the time we checked in to the time I was walking out the door (that's extremely unusual but was nice!)

Well, Charleigh just got over her throwing up and now she's all congested.   To top it all off, I spent the whole day yesterday getting to know both of my toliets very well. I am feeling a little better today, my stomach is still a little upset, but I can hold some crackers and sprite down today. Which is a miracle, because yesterday if I just looked at it I was running to the bathroom. Haha

Lincoln is doing great. Talking like crazy, he likes to copy us once and then never say the word again. haha But atleast he's doing it. He loves to tell you hi and bye. Umm...yeah that's about it.

I'm so worried about Izzy getting the flu or swine flu! I've been keeping her home, really only going out for doctor visits. I took a chance last week and took her to my BIL's house so that the in-laws could see her in her costume. The hubby is starting to cabin fever (even though he goes to work 5 days a week). He's starting to complain about us not even visiting family anymore. But I just don't want to chance it. This is Izzy's first winter and first flu season, and I can't screen everyone to know if they've been sick, are starting to feel sick, or will be sick. He says I'm starting to get paranoid, but I just don't want Izzy to end up in the hospital again.
That's amazing about the 20 min ER visit. The last time we went to the ER, we had to wait 6hrs just to get into a room. Then for 3hrs, off and on, the were trying to get a vein to take blood. It was horrible!!!

I forgot to tell you guys that Izzy saw her GI doc for the first time this week. The wheezing that we've been hearing isn't wheezing. The doc said it sounds like Izzy's isn't swallowing her saliva the way she's supposed to. This makes sense since we already know she has a problem swallowing thin liquids, and there's no way to thicken her saliva. He wants to find out how bad her reflux is, so we scheduled a PH probe for 2 weeks. Has anyone ever done this?

The finding a vein part is the worst for us. I only let the nurses from Children's try to find them now (or ONE male nurse that got it in the very first time and she didn't even notice). The Children's nurses use the vein finders and only poke if they're 99% sure they've got a good vein. Siri's are like mine...notoriously hard to get a good one and I refuse to let her be poked like a pincusion. We also have issues with cathing her due to her unique anatamy (when she's got suspected UTI's) so when we need to cath, I go to one hospital (who always gets it on the first try with minimal screaming from her), anything else, we go to the other.

I understand about being paranoid that she'll get sick from being out, but DH brings home germs from work so she's being exposed regardless (sorry to say). My advice would be to at least go for walks outside (fresh air'll do her good) and if you're going to go to the store (Target or wherever) put her in her stroller and pull the cart behind you so that she's not chewing on the cart handle or whatever). It'll be a loooong winter otherwise.

Just my two cents, FWIW

We've gone to the stores a couple of times, but I try to go during the week when there are less people. And I put her in her stroller and the hubby pushes the cart. And we use a lot of purell. I'm actually thinking of taking her to the mall for pix with Santa. But of course, we'll go during the day during the week. I feel like it's safer to take her to the store (at non-busy times) than to take her to family gatherings. My reasoning is that at the store, I have her in her stroller, and strangers aren't gonna come up to her and try to hold her, hug her, and kiss all over her like family would at a gathering. At the store, I try not to get too close to strangers, and since she still uses her carseat, I just put in on her stroller.

True true. Just didnt' want y'all to be cooped up all winter

Family's not understanding that it can be life threatening for Izzy to get sick, right? If so then I definitely understand where you're coming from. My family was pretty understanding last winter about staying away from Siri (or any of us) when they weren't feeling well.
