Quoting Misses♥Him:“ You sound just like me! The first panic attack I ever had was while I was driving on the interstate, ... [snip!] ... get me started on riding with other people I scream at them because I feel like they can't drive or are not paying attention.”

This is really weird but what helps me when I am driving is to have something to play with. When I start feeling weird, I play with this safety pin, opening and closing it (yes I know im crazy), it seems to draw away the energy or something. It sounds crazy I know but its true.

I have panic attacks also, driving on interstates or long stretches are hard for me. I avoid them if I can. I just got to where I can drive over bridges. My poor kids never got to go to the beach unless we hitched a ride because there is a three mile bridge you cross to get there. I have found that if I play with something(like the safety pin) that I don't feel quite so out of control. I took Klonopin before I got pregnant, but nothing now.

I started having panic attacks again (after being off of meds for years) when i was about 4 months along. i talked to my midwife about it and she suggested that i pay extra attention to my diet, especially protein intake.
when you're pregnant, your body tends to fluctuate more in blood pressure and blood sugar levels. these rapid fluctuations give you symptoms such as dizziness, tingling sensations, heart palpitations, racing heartbeat, and hot flashes. don't know about you, but i found these symptoms VERY similar to the beginnings of a panic attack. sometimes your brain can register these feelings as anxiety or panic symptoms, and once the anxiety starts, it's hard to keep it from escalating! i had to literally tell myself "These are normal feelings. I am not anxious..." Keeping your blood suger and protein up can help with the sudden onset of these symptoms. I keep a protein bar by my bed at night in case I wake up feeling panicky. The protein seems to even things out. I haven't had a panic attack in a month!
i hope this helps a little...
