re: Getting my breast milk supply back!! Help!!

I am still LOW on my supply you guys, its getting frustrated because i am having to formula supplement with every feeding now and i hate it. i want to be able to feed him 100% on the breast but hes demanding alot more than what im making. I would LOVE to be able to pump every 1 to 2 hours to bring my supply up, but with a newborn, 2 yr old AND 3 yr old, thats kinda hard. Im thinking of renting a hospital grade pump to see if it helps, because my manual pump isnt doing the trick at all. Im going to try the red wine as well. Im just hanging on by a string because the tiny bit im making im praying to hold onto, before i completely dry out. But it definitely does suck  

I take this product (one pill/day sometimes...not everyday though) & it makes my breasts engorge like crazy when I feel my supply is on the low side...I have thyroid issues so my meds can mess with my supply. It says you can take up to 4 pills daily, but I have a feeling if I did that many I would be overly engored and in pain like when it came in! So you should give it a try...it works fast:

are you letting him cluster feed? let him eat as much as he wants, whenevr he wantsand within a week he should back on track. and you cant do the formula because now yourboobs are only gonna make as much as you're letting him get on the breast, and if he has formula he's gona get on the breast less.

Yup im letting him be on my boob all day if he wants, lol. The only problem I run into with that is that hes not getting enough with each feeding for him to be satisfied. He cries, so im supplementing w/ formula after both breasts are empty everytime.

Hospital grade pumps REALLY help! The Medela Symphony Pump is really awesome, and makes a huge difference. Also you can try Fenugreek, it'ssupposed to be a really good herb for increasing your milk supply. Or try Mother's Milk Tea if you like tea.
The other thing you can try.... What I've had to do with my son because breast milk just doesnt hold him over I make him 2 oz of formula and add another 2 + oz of breast milk and that way I can build a supply in the fridge or freezer and also am able to give him the necessary breast milk for him.

The breast pump won't get as much out as the baby will. Just keep constantly pumping and putting the baby on. You can also drink lots of water and that will help with bringing back your supply.

hi there, i feel your pain! i got mastitis and had very cracked nipples also so breast feeding on that breast was painful and so was pumping. my dr told me to take motrin for the pain and i would take one and try to feed my son on that breast when he was sleepy and not apt to move alot. the milk flow went down alot and now i'm healed and pumping, drinking lots of apple juice and eating bananas and taking fenugreek to help the milk supply come up. so hang in there also it seemed a little less painful if i lay him down and lay on my side inorder to sort of dangle the booby into his mouth. try to get all of the nipple into his mouth. good luck

Pumping works just fine.Not every mother can put baby to breast, I can't! I've been pumping for 9 months with some bad dry spells, but i always get it back.

Try pumping and massaging the breast do nipple stimulations and when taking a shower make sure your breast get directly under the shower spout! Until baby can return!
