I started shaving my legs at the beggining of6th grade with my mom's permission. I have dark hair so the hair on my legs was noticable, plus most of the other girls in my grade were doing it. I only shaved up to my knees for a long time though. I wish Icould still do that lol My pits were in 4th grade I think. Damn hairy genes lol

For my daughter it will prbably be the same. If her hair is noticable and she is bothered by not shaving it then we will start talking about it.

For shaving I would say whenever they become self concious about their hair issues lol. I didn't start getting hairy armpits until like 7th grade. But I did want to shave my legs in 5th grade.

I was opposite. My hair is so blonde on my arms and legs you can't really tell I even have hair. My armpits were a different story.

I didn't get to shave until like 7th grade. I begged my mom because like I said, I went to Catholic school so we had to wear skirts with knee high socks and you could see the hair on my knees and she would not give in. I was always so embarrassed!!!

I was in 6th or 7th, but I had some HAIRY legs... I got made fun of... the guys were like, Man, you've got more hair than we do   I had to BEG my step mom before she'd let me though... and I swear, her daughter started shaving as soon as she got out of elementary school!

Hmmm... shaving... I will probably go with 7th grade at the latest... maaaaybe 6th depending on the hair I guess? lol. I have really dark hair and was super hairy. My Mom didn't allow me to start shaving my legs until I got under arm hair which was 7th grade, and I always felt that was a tad too late... then again, you could also attribute that to wanting to fit in too....

I remember this one poor girl, she had a unibrow and her mom would nair it. But she wasn't allowed to shave until like 8th grade. And she had BLACK hair. LOL In a case like that, I'd give in. Thankfully Adrianna is a blondie!

I still don't wear makeup. Never have except for very special occasions, not even mascara. I like au naturale

I didn't shave my legs until 8th grade, and even then the hair was so light and fine I didn't really NEED to, I just wanted to. I didn't get hairy armpits until 10th grade, lol. Didn't need deodorant either until then! (ugh now I need it all the time though, I am SOOO sweaty, lol)

Hooray being a late bloomer like me!

Quoting Dev22:“ The nail polish post made me think of this. My daughter can wear makeup on special occasions (like ... [snip!] ... If my duaghter hates me for it, oh well. Those were my rules growing up, and looking back I think they were very appropriate.”

I agree that young girls should not be walking around in revealing outfits and makeup. I haven't made a solid decision on which age my girls will begin wearing makeup. I will probably allow light makeup, which I approve before they walk out the door, around Jr High.

I haven't come across the nail polish thread, but for the record I occasionally paint both of my girls fingers and toes...I think it's cute and don't see much wrong with it besides the chemicals contained in most polishes.

I started wearing make up when I was 10. Nothing crazy. But I wore foundation & powder. I had Mongolian Spots on different parts of my face when I was younger, so I was very self conscience about them. Knowing this, my mom let me start covering them up.

I don't have a set age for when I'll let my possible future daughter wear make-up. It will really depend on the reasoning she wants to start, I suppose.
