re: What age will you let your daughter start wearing makeup?

junior high school.

And I will show her how to put it on to where she looks nice, not like a whore. My parents didn't want me to wear any until I was 13 but I started putting it on at school as soon as I started junior high and they knew it ... so my mom just relented and showed me how to do it right.

What about dying hair? I have noticed children younger than 10 with highlights? My mother let me do highlights at the end of my 8th grade year and you could hardly see them. It seems like children are doing everything younger and younger now at days.

I dont know about that. dying hairis very expensive, so again maybe in high school if they want to save up and pay for it themselves. Its not something I will be paying for. I dont even dye MY hair lol

i think I talked my mom into it coloring my hair before I even wore makeup! LOL It was freakin Ronald McDonald red! I haven't really seen my natural hair since then! I have had every natural and unnatural color imaginable, except black!

I was allowed to color my hair at 13 years old. It was just some highlights and didn't do any damage to my hair. I would say I color it more than normal people lol but I still have really healthy hair in general and always take care of it. I think it's just at the discretion of the parent. I did lowlights in my 11 year old sisters hair. She has white blonde hair and wanted a little bit of color in it. You can't really tell there's a difference unless you knew she had it done.

my mom only dyed my hair once in 5th grade, and it was only because she had extra hair dye so a little bit of my hair had a tint of dark brown nothing serious.

I wasn't allowed to do anything to my hair (other than cuts) until after I graduated. Which I'm glad my mom was that way because I have really pretty healthy hair now! I've put highlights in it a couple of times, but I prefer my natural hair anyway now. (when I was 14 or 15 that was a different story though!)

I never had a set age, but make-up didn't occur to me until late middle school. If I have a daughter, I think she and I will talk about it and I will determine if she is mature enough to wear make-up, whenever that bridge comes.

I didn't wear make up until I got into high school. Probably around that time for Lorelai too.

Oh - and my mom never told me I couldn't wear make up - it was just my choice. and I think because I waited to wear makeup I have the clearest face in my house.

I don't either and I not going to introduce something I don't do. I only wear for special occassions and that is it....So probably never!

I'm not having a daughter...yet..!! But I would have to go with middle school (around 13ish) and showing her how to apply it. That's about the time that I started wearing it myself. I think that's appropriate. Especially nowadays lol. I remember wearing lip gloss and maybe a little bit of blush when doing recitals when in elementary school (later on).... it was fun for special occasions like that... but I can't imagine having been 10 years old and having my make up done on a daily basis!!   No way! If I have a daughter I will definitely allow it only in dress up and possibly that tiny bit of special occasion blush until junior high.

What about shaving? I started around 5th grade or so. I really didn't need to, but other girls were doing it, so I did too. My mom wasn't too happy. Neither was my dad when he realized I'd used his razor! LMAO

I don't have a problem with shaving. I remembered not shaving until 6th grade. I wore a tank top once and someone said something
